^ Where?!

Very reserved from Wmialil, i can't say i would be quite so forgiving. Complete Karma, although if he does have long lasting damage it'll only be everyone else who pays for it anyway.
You should add a notch to you bike to serve as a warning to other would-be thieving scum bags.

Poor bloke: why? Karma strikes back!
-

Add insult to injury by reporting this to the police - you're handing them a conviction on a plate so they might be more than usually inclined to follow up on this case. I'm sure Mr Thief would be overjoyed to be arrested the moment he's let out of hospital.

Lets hope he doesn't make a full recovery, thus taking another thief off the street.
You get what you deserve in this life. I like the sound of your bike -

Ha! Little silhouette of a crack addict as per a jet fighter.

That's a fantastic story!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'd love to be a fly on the wall when friends and loved ones ask: 'What happened?'
and he has to say, "I'm a thieving nonce"This story makes me feel good.
Get a job you prick. Buy your own bike.
Karma is a bitch.
Great story! It's a harsh lesson for that man but a lesson all the same.

don't steal bikes bro...

Ha, also you have just managed to dispel a myth for me!
I always thought that
a) it was possible to swallow your tongue
b) this can be irreversibleProbably something they say to scare kids, but google tells me it is impossible and that when people have seizures etc sticking spoons in their mouths etc can be counter-productive and damage the throat / tongue - which they won't swallow anyway?
Also....the website I found about this said 'when a person is actively dying....'
actively dying?
how does one actively die?! As oppose to like, passively dying?ok i'm off to enjoy this sun - glad you got your bike back.

Was this near the Canton Arms by ant chance?
yeh it was just in front of the front seating area bit. were you there? did you see him actually come off cos that must've looked raw!
I don't think i'm going to press charges. £50 and about 20mins of my time wasted is easily equalled by nearly suffocating to death and being carted off in an ambulance.
Also I'm glad someone pointed out that my bike was unlocked. Shan't be doing that again any time soon.

I'm not bothered if he doesn't recover to be honest. No loss to society.
From your description he could have been suffering an overdose and that's why he came off.
Yeah, I hear the "stealing a bike and then crashing it as result of starting to suffer an a overdose" scenario is like so common these days...
What??? Overdose!?
Doh...

The thief was probably annoyed that they didn't have the Haggis Toastie for sale?

+1
"Swallowed his tongue" = extra comedic value.
Yeah, real funny huh...duh.
-
• #41
were you there?
Nah but I saw all the commotion out my window as I live close by. That spot is a zoo, great place for a beer! My wife got knocked over out there getting off a bus by a nodder on a mountain bike who then took exception when I told him was riding like fucking bell.
Decent pub though.
(where is the hummous?!)

Probably some little crack head who overdosed lol. Maybe he was having an epileptic fit.

No it's not. Don't be silly.
One is wishing and has absolutely no consequences
One is actually doing something harmful to someone else and has plenty of consequences. -

The reason I reckon the thief might have been having an overdose is because he was shaking and had pissed himself. And the reason I suspected that he was on drugs in the first place is because he was stealing a fucking bike. How many (bike) thieves aren't junkies? A small percentage.
Sure I might be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5 but so what? He's a bike thief. Fuck him.
Would I have left him to die and just took my bike?
Maybe. I don't know. Or I might have kicked him in the face and finished the job. Or I might have called an ambulance. How the hell would you know how you would react in such an odd and unlikely scenario. -

I don't think he was a career bike thief. he looked about my age (18) and was wearing pretty fresh garms fam. Also, I saw some guy in Brixton on the way to school today who was there during the event. He had stayed on and said that the pissing and shaking was due to a fit which had been sparked by smacking his head on the floor. and the reason he fell off was simply cos he got flipped like this guy: http://vimeo.com/3657415
Oh and the houmous was nothing special, just got it from that new costcutters cos i wanted something to dip carrots into.

I saw my little bro practically swallow his tongue he damn near suffocated.
the failed thief got some karmic justice... good.
I'm also very impressed with Wmialil's attitude to the whole thing.. saying that It's possible he feels guilty for damn near killing the guy after being negligent and not locking his bike?
Some of the replies here seem quite harsh.
I'd still be tempted to press charges though...surely he'd have a tough time arguing that one with the popo?
