What leek varieties to sow now? Straight in the ground or propagator?

Could be too late to start from seed on reflection, plug plants would grow on.

Tomato’s coming to an end. But some surprise avocados making an appearance.

I need to change the orientation of my green house before it gets cold. So that’s happening soon.

Tomatoes are looking good. Which variety are they?

Beef steak. They are very juicy

I love them, they’re quality over quantity. I should have done 6 plants rather than 8. But I’m greedy. Maybe next year.

Went up the plot today. Eldest stacked it off her scooter on the way and bashed her elbow up, then get to the sweetcorn and badgers have had the lot, smashed everything up and eaten 20+ cobs. They were the only thing that has really grown this year. Then Everton threw away a two goal lead!!

Starting to clear a few beds today. Been a good year all in I reckon for us. Probably 3kg of toms today :)

Same, cleared three beds instead of an overdue strim. Not a great year for me, just haven’t been totally committed and the weather’s unpredictability put a downer on plans.
Saying that, I’ve had an absolute terrible year in the garden at home, trees are keeling over, pots are neglected, greenhouse a disaster. I’m gonna take up golf.

One noted exception… tomatillo’s!

Asters annd dahlias are looking good still, put in a new bed(was previously flowering bulbs and odds and ends but mostly a mess). Sowed some salads, radish and other random bits just to fill it. Rotorvated the unsuccessful potato bed and put white mustard seeds down as cover crop.

Just ordered a passata maker. Exciting times. Sieve method takes forever and I’m over it.

Popped down to ours tonight. Loads of runner beans, courgettes, cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes at the moment. The butternut squash and pumpkin are coming on great.

Started turning over one of the beds where the spuds were and digging out bindweed roots. They're bloody huge!
Might get hold of another load of mulch and dig it in to the soil before it becomes waterlogged over the winter. It's clay underneath so a nightmare to do anything with.

Also just ordered a pair of uk hardy olive trees. Only young but fruited this year apparently. Undecided whether to plant them out when they arrive or wait til spring.

Getting this many raspberries 2-3 times a week (even accounting for assistant tax). Dreamy. Dug up some of my 'Setanta' main crop too.

Our berries have pretty much finished now so good work on those!

First proper harvest from our plot today, since we took it on earlier this year. (Not counting rhubarb)

Tomatoes extraordinarily good. Just superb. Maybe the best tomatoes I've ever eaten. 750g harvested today and there's probably two or three times that still ripening

Lettuce inedibly bitter. You win some, you lose some

Ate the tomatoes with shop bought basil, burrata and a good evoo instead

This year was terrible for me - I have some potatoes left to dig up then I think I'll cover up the plot with membrane and bricks until February/March. Do others on here grow much through autumn/winter ?

We’re aiming to grow as much as we can over winter this year, we usually just tidy up in October and ignore it til spring.
We’re very lucky to have the tunnel and greenhouse/shed so hopefully we’ll be able to keep things going.
As the chillis in the tunnel finish I’ll dig up 90% of them and just overwinter my favourites. Hoping to do pak choi, mustard, radishes and onions undercover. Kale and sprouts outside but we might be late as they’re only germinating now.

It’s always worth planting a bunch of onion and garlic in October if nothing else. Can completely ignore it over winter.

I'm growing onions and garlic, also already got some white sprouting broccoli and brussels at a decent size. Have just sown some winter pointed cabbage, Spanish black radish and Pak choi.

Can confirm the passata machine is pure bang. Worth every penny.
