Today I had my first ride on the 80's Raleigh singlespeed that I bought yesterday. I did 21 miles and really enjoyed it. I thought I'd struggle on the hills but they were fine. I may get to like this stuff :)

A really enjoyable ride in Swinley today, out early and riding as much as my cross bike would let me!
Had a few comments along the lines of 'brought the wrong bike out mate......' by middle aged accountants on full sus rigs....but hey all i care about is riding! -

Your chain looks very clean. What do you use on it?Went out with my new (hopefully) club this morning, Oxonian CC. There were only 6 of us but was told they have about 150 members! Did 55 miles at a comfortable pace, with a cafe stop, no mechanicals or punctures, a lovely autumn morning, smiles all round.
Was also good to chat about racing and to be told "if you can climb like that you might be better than you think" after saying I'd like to give it a go but not sure if I'm fit enough.
The route was something like this:http://ridewithgps.com/routes/217135

It thrives on almost total neglect, sometimes it gets a clean with a baby wipe, and occasionally some muc-off dry lube if I can find it while I remember.

I'm back on my bike :O) did a local circuit of about 8 miles involving numerous stops for tea, cake and gossip with friends.
Next weekend I might tackle Victoria Park...

40 miles loop from Caterham.
I wasn't up for any hills but somehow had to do Titsey and another one.
Tom 6pt got some great "Haha, he's wearing a pink!" comment from some random kid.
It was pretty nice outside, up to when it got a bit colder and I stopped feeling my toes.
Chicken soup and crumble with custard got me back to life. Some nice raisin cake my g/f still fitted in.http://connect.garmin.com:80/activity/embed/55877482

Spent the weekend building up my cross bike, building wheels burning down parts of sussex, and telling people that they are idiots.

Easy Chiltern-esque jaunt w/ The Bike Whisperer before eating so much lovely home-cooked Sri Lankan I may not eat again this week.

I think that's what he meant, he just couldn't quite put it in to words. Definitely fallen down the ranks to weekend warrior now, too.

30 mile north london hilly route on Saturday morning in an hour and 40 fixed. I was quite pleased with that although I was aiming for and hour and a half (20mph average).
Then a quick ride down to Twickenham for the rugby. Back from there to Mile end for a party then a slow drunken ride back from mile end to highgate. Fair few miles in the end.

Went out for a bit of an explore with jonas. We mostly found where you can't ride, but Farmoor reservior looks like it'll be ace to ride around. No bikes allowed so will have to go back after hours. Had to double back on ourselves a couple of times but did 25 miles at a nice easy pace.

There was playing in the park and on the BMX track.

did the slowest recorded 2 miles in history, 1hr 40 mins, leading 18family folk from a Kings Park event to the seaside and back- not too bad considering the youngest person was 3. stress free really - having two babylons accompanying makes traffic surprisingly subservient ;-)

I went out for a great ride around the city of London this afternoon forgetting that the Lord Mayor wanted it all to himself, spent most of the time running up flights of stairs with my bike on my shoulder trying to cut through the back alleyways.. So I went for a hair cut and a pint.
The ride home was much more successful though, the guy on the geared Bianchi had no chance through Dalston then up Pembury Rd...

saw him off did you ? rar! :-)
(Im jealous of youre overlinedstar...) -

I did see him off good and proper, he caught up with me at the red light at Pembury Junction, I live there but thought I'd do Pembury Rd just to teach him a second lesson, good training too..
2 pints and a ride home yes!.. I think less hair might have helped a bit as well. You're right, the 1 lined star does look good - cheers...

Same thing happened to me, had various jobs about town to do this afternoon and got caught up in all the traffic congestion, street after street where I wanted to go closed off. Did 13 miles this afternoon but it felt much longer!

To be honest, I'd be trying to race a sherbertflyingsaucer, too, if I saw one.
After a tough swim this morning i had no plans to ride, but such a nice day so i headed out at lunchtime on about the only route i know well (a lfgss'er explained it and it's great) up here.
Once thru Stockport & New Mills i was in some of the nicest scenery in the country & a long climb towards Glossop gave a great view as i turned and headed to Charlesworth. Perfect day for riding today.
Club ride tomorrow, flat 'n fast. Brutal.
