Took the train to 130km. Then all downhill. This route is epic.

I am foolishly doing the LBL sportive next Saturday how were all the climbs? I know it really kicks off with the nasty ramps towards the end...

Lucky you! This is hilly, very hilly. Very fun. You do the full 270km route I assume as the shorter versions leave out Wanne and Stockau which are some of the nicest parts.

The shorter version usually includes all the climbs from the Wanne onwards. They vary in terms of length and severity, the Rosier is a long, steady climb through woods, but the Redoute is relatively short and steep. There's nothing that isn't do-able on a decent low gear though, just remember to keep hydrated and eat when you can.
Good luck.

Yup I'm doing the full length. Don't know whether I'm more excited or terrified right now!
Main survival plan is getting into groups as much as possibly to share the work, and relentless eating.

The race is going to climb 300m from Stourmont to Hautregard.

Met some weirdos from the internet yesterday and got the train out to Friesing and did a super lesiurely 45 mile ride back to Munich with lots of Beer gardens (and maß) along the way.

On Friday rode audax pace to Kent with plan to ride my first century till Ramsgate via Canterbury; chain snapped at Chilham; struggled with quick links and eventually caught train from Canterbury. Really frustrating as I had miles left in me legs and it was an awesome day.

Roughly 80+ miles of Derbyshire/ Peak District bliss with the club this morning. Was quite fast, got lost also. Been out for 4hrs 45, with a cafe stop somewhere.
I have very little idea of where we've been, both Garmin and phone died on me.
I've really missed hills, they're amazing fun.
This was the planned route...

As always, the roads were super empty.
You picked well - Winster/Youlgreave and over towards Staffordshire is lovely riding country - always deserted with a bit of every sort of riding you could want. Very jealous.

Awesome ride yesterday. An amazing loop of the local mountains, valleys, and fjords. Rode with a couple decent climbers that punished my heavy boned self on the ups. But I got to smash some downs. So swings'n'roundabouts.
Higlights were 3 solid climbs, a descent thrrough a fecking steep, several km long dark tunnel, and the most amazing valley road ever.
Such a day.

Cheers. I'm not a terrible climber. But cooked my legs trying to keep up with two mountain goats intent on attacking each other at every gradient.
