  • Looks like I keep the club hill climb trophy. andyp will be pleased hunts for trophy pic

I missed winning the event overall by .3 of a second.

  • Should have done 85, only did 65 4hrs 25. Dry and very cold, windy.

Went out too hard (school boy error) trying to keep up with what turned out to be some of the best of the Islands riders. stayed with them for the first 25 and then gave up. Headwind about 20=25mph down the west coast (pain cave and cramp). Shook it off, carried on.

The big boys finished 10 mins before me. I got a round of applause for riding fixed, I did a skid.

    Met some great people.

    Happy days.

  • When I came into London on Friday, I made a pass through Queen Sqaure off Theobalds Road. They were doing resurfacing work so if anyone wants to get there quick it would be ideal for a little alleytrack. Hipster pursuit course, fixie-skidder-keiran?

  • After bailing out of the ROTFL the other week I thought I'd use this fine day to try my hand at it. Lovely route... Toy Hill not as bad as I feared but Sundridge Hill was a slog - maybe coz my legs were feeling it towards the end. This could make a good forum ride on a sunny cold day in winter maybe?

  • i rode to oxford. then to swanbourne. then back to london.

    in a car.

    fucking horrible.

did see some kites. no tea. no scones. no talk.

  • Swanbourne ? the tea rooms there are awesome!

great to read about all your rides you bastards Ive been at work..

    keep it up

  • from the offroad thread

This is what Owainga and myself got up to:

Swinley is awesome fun. The Lookout bit was populated by some interesting characters, a number of families appeared to have come straight from the Harry Enfield sketch with the dog that is just shouted at continually. They provided some comedy value, my slow mo crashes probably supplied the rest. The best one involved my wheel getting stuck in a rabbit hole that swallowed a 1/3rd of my wheel, cue me slowly (as Owain said) with balletic grace rotating over the handlebards to land on my back, get up and laugh.

We went around fire roads and a little singletrack in the first half and then did more singletrack later on. Our lack of map and pisspoor directional skills did not help us in finding the MTB area until later in the afternoon.

I shall be getting a blank memory card for the garmin and using open source maps for offroad stuff in future. The riding was great fun and lots of other avid cyclists bouncing around. I think this could well be the venue for us doing MTB training with Lucy on a weekend day soon. £2 for a day pass and there is ample space for us to go and practice some techniques in the morning and then do some loops in the afternoon putting new skills into practice.

    Roll on next weekend...

  • what, road sat, dirt sunday?
contrast is the stuff of life hey.

some people have gf duty you know...

  • Did 49 miles today round the lanes of Leicestershire, furthest I'd gone previously was 30 miles. Couple of bastardish hills, but they were quite short so only minimal swearing.

Route please?! I need some hills to have 'fun' on when I'm visiting back home.

  • Greensand way today, near Dorking. I was running, but there were loads of bikes about. MTB's on the trail, and road bikes doing some kind of hill-climb comp by the looks of things, lots of people with numbers stuck on their handlebars.

  • Got fired by gf due to too much cycling and her not appreciating my sobriety (plus me being a lousy partner but shall gloss over that)

So now have lots of time to mess around on bikes. PBP next year so more time on bikes the better. Hoping to do some endurance mtb events this winter.

  • hmmmmmmmm,
life is full of changes, youre own condition matters more because if she aint going to love you sober then, no hope I guess. (ooh deep)

At the end of the day and other cliches, the bike and what you do on it wont let you down, ever,
even if it fails theres a reason.
every action has a reaction, that reminds me I need to fit new disc pads right now for mondays riding

  • Hoping to do some endurance mtb events this winter.

    Massacre the bitch?

i find your continual sexism very off putting

Best thing to do is get a cut-out saddle. Gives you somewhere to stick it, without interfering with riding. Quality saddle time.

    +1

  • I find it pathetic.

Even GA2G would have trouble finding enough room for a list of people who agree with you.

  • WAC?

    I find your sexism tedious.
