Rode my first 25mile Time Trail on Sunday, with top draw support and gear from Sean. Pretty good fun. I'm a sucker for sadistic suffering on your own.
Managed to win the event, break my clubs 25mile record and be 25mile Champion for the year! Not a bad day.http://ridehardridehome.co.uk/the-rider/races/time-trials/thanet-25mile-tt-catford-cc-25-champs/

On Sunday I test rode the route for next weekend's Rapha Women's 100 in Kyoto (which I'm co-leading, despite not being a woman, because my GF has no sense of direction whatsoever).
http://app.strava.com/activities/63708466
It was... not really suitable. I rode it with the GF and a high-level CX racer and even he was pretty wrecked by it.
We had terrible luck, too. My friend punctured. I punctured, then broke a spoke. Fun day out though...

Not this weekend as I was driving across Europe but whilst away in Italy I did this ride in the Tuscany mountains/countryside.
http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2796115
I think it's safe to say I am over my fear of hills :D I did learn though that proper descending is almost as hard work as getting up the hills in the first place.
Totally, totally worth it. And cycling in Italy was a total joy. Even in the smallest places there were cycle paths. And motorists in Italy seem to give cyclists plenty of room (as a result of them being one of those countries that have the laws that motorist is automatically at fault in case of incident?)

^ I'm jealous. My dad's from that area so have a lots of family there and have spent many a happy holiday on the beach at Viareggio. Never done any riding around there though.

Lucky you/your dad! We were about 5 kms out of Viareggio but I loved the faded glamour of the place.
I also have a total crush on Italy as a whole - completely different attitude and way of life. If my numbers ever come up I'm moving there.

Yeah, its all about the hills. Though don't always believe google when looking for roads that go over hills. Twice now i've found an awesome climb but its been on a fireroad/gravel track. And once near Aberdeen it was pretty much full of road hacking across the moorland. Luckily I was on a solid Reynolds 725 set up with 28 mm tyres (which are now fucked)

That sounds like fun, where you heading to?
I wish someone had wanted to skip work, could've done with the motivation... 90miles (in two parts)ridden, Putney to Brighton sign and back to gatwick where I felt like death so caught the train, then got bored and got off at Croydon and ride home...
Disappointing. Still, 5hrs and 1/2 of riding, bout 45 mins of stops and 20 on the train.
Sorry about ridiculous sized photo. Was stunning weather. And empty roads...

^^^^ I've cycled some of those roads near Lucca. Best roads, like evah...

I've cycled the top of the wall in Lucca. Very genteel.
I've also nearly decapited myself by catching my neck on a low slung wire whilst zooming around on a bicicletta on the wall. Pulled me right off and left me with a mark across my throat for a few week.

My weekend ride was pretty good today.
I rode from Barrow in Furness and out through Askam to Broughton before passing through Coniston. Anyome who's cycled around there before knows what's near there...
Wrynose and then Hardknott passes. Ouch. From there it was over Sella Brow (which is a pretty notable climb in itself) and back the same route to Barrow.
About 75 miles and a LOT of climbing. (I don't have Strava or a Garmin so I don't know quite how much but it's a LOT.)

Surrey was beautiful today, and leaving in the afternoon rather than the morning meant it was surprisingly quiet. I found a lot of lovely roads on a route that was mostly new to me. Ripley lane was one I particularly enjoyed and remembered the name. This route is highly recommended (although the first 15-20 miles or so is obviously just London):
