Isn't bumming meant to be nice? Why would people do if it isn't
quoted for its place in posterity in the anals of lfgss.

Hippy how long does a double C take you? Must be all awake hours of the day on the bike. As I did 7 yesterday and wasn't near a double C, so must be 10-11 maybe more if you're down country lanes and taking it easier.
My long rides are usually below 24hr pace so I was out for about 12 hours. Maybe 11-11.5 ride time. Depends where I go, how hilly or windy it is, how hard I've ridden on Sat, what can be bothered doing, etc.

Depends what you are sorting. I have some terribly cluttered coffee table drawers that need a good sort. Probably take the best part of 12 hours. And I would have something to show for it afterwards.

2,900 metres of climbing on the bikes, 1,569 metres of climbing on the run.
Norway is stunning- and based on our trip, permanently sunny.

No, no it's not. Not even close.
I fucking love sitting on my arse in front of a TV/computer all day.
I hate training for long TTs and once this one is done I look forward to never riding further than say 6 hours. -

You said that last year.
I find the easiest way to avoid doing long TTs is to not enter them in the first place..
It's worked for the last 30 years. -

It's worked for the last 30 years.I know. I remember hating training for it last year too.
Coming in second and getting close to 500 miles left me feeling like I should have one more crack. -
• #5812
Fine but if you sign up for it again next year I'll assist in your suicide.

You say that, but I know how it is. And we'll see to your 6 hours. I'd put some good money down on that. It's in your blood.
I bitch and moan to hell from the moment my alarm goes off and try and wish I've every issue going to get off training. But in the end, I'm out there every day without doubt. Rain, shine, whatever.

Not being of means to take myself to surprisingly fair Norway, the Gruber settled for local hills interspersed by Teutonic campervan aficianados and their silly dogs.
Some 1500ft of very steep climbing and 60 miles later sans appropriate gearing, and several very steep descents where 'my steering felt funny' (found out today my bastard quill converter/headset were dangerously loose) I felt like I'd been melted, sucked through a straw and shat out Jan Ullrich's arse in a kind of thick infusion of nutella and bad epo. I also passed two old boys on a tandem who were heading UP the 20%er that I'd been erratically pointing myself down. I would dearly love to know if they made it, but alas I will just have to imagine that they had to stop half way and put themselves at the mercy of silly-dog loving Germans I'd been treating to a whiff of my pungent sweat a while before.
There's no real mystery as to the climbing like a sloth with a thyroid problem, I just need to lose 10kilos and ride more. Which, crabon fork with aheadset newly installed this very day, I fucking well will.
Still, trotting home in a torrential downpour was still win as not only was I wearing my new gabba gilet and feeling pretty smug, when I also transpired across a random coffee cart in the middle of nowhere that was churning out delicious home-roasted coffee. Some things you can't really explain and you're better just being thankful for.

Gruber, I'm jealous of the hills you seem to have on your doorstep! Whereabouts? Enjoyable ride reports too.

Wonderful 215km roundtrip yesterday - if you are curious about Danish landscape/shape/fauna, it's a really nice route. Route + GPX file can be downloaded here http://ridewithgps.com/trips/1421669
. The expense for 5 ferries is around 280,- DKK (30£). -

^ that looks about as good as it gets. Jealous.

Looks great- same weather that we had in Norway as well.

£218 for a return, two people+car to Norway from Newcastle.
Trips a bit long at 15 hours, but you could kip for most of that.

Theukr, you always have quality rides, repped
@Smallfurry, TW2 and Dammit, amazing vertigo inducing pics, the ascent to distance ratio = oooof. Officially confines the Col de Vauxhall bridge to the lowly Cat 6 climb it really is.
@ Hats, LOLS, bloke-ish levels of denial about being lost there, you can safely say you're the only person ever to falsely claim to be from Preston. Impressed with wild boar spot but as you're now a shameful townie are you sure it was'nt a pig or even a sheep or cow?
