Back on the airstrip 2day!

Did 75km in the sun on Sunday. The actuall sun!
Glorious conditions, and even saw other cyclists.
For Dammit, and TW2.
The road is clear almost to the top of Dalsnibbe. The clay/gravel surfaced last 5km looks, technically speaking, shite. -

^ Fuck; and I thought the roads around my way were bad!
-
• #5556
Rideable though.

I believe that 404's and Veloflex tubs are ideally suited to that sort of road surface.
-
• #5558
Sounds sensible.
Ultremos for me. The only other options I have are 20mm veloflex record, or a turbo tyre.

It'll be fine. I ran 20km this week- after almost two months of no running.
We've got what, two weeks of training left?
-
• #5560
Its raining and I've got a heavy cold. So not much training for me. I'm genuinely more worried about the ride. I'll struggle to do it under 1:45.
The run will hurt. But I seem to cope with running suffering better than cycling suffering.

Other way round for me- maybe we'll even out as one decent athlete?
-
• #5562
No. I'll suck at the running too. I just have more practice sucking at running.
Strava KOM for Dalsnibbe is 1:13 BTW.

Got the link?
-
• #5564
No, sorry.
Trainerroad, and Brytonsport is enough documentation of my inadequatcey.

Is it this one? http://app.strava.com/segments/861093

Thats the one.
I'm currently looking at 1:50 based on sustainable power. Although I havent made the top yet due to conditions. I suggest one of you guys carry the cabin key ;)
We have 3 hours to get up and down. Even with my less than ideal braking surface on a wet day, dodging tourist buses I can get down a lot faster than the suggested 40mins. So I'm looking to get up in under 2 hours, down in 30mins, changed and to the start in the remaining 30 mins.
No worries.

I think we'll be fine.
My biggest concern is needing a Radcliffe on the run.
That or my achilles blowing out in the first 2km.
Or blowing out my achilles whilst having a Radcliffe.

I can run a marathon on energy drinks/gels and caffein. I dont intend on having anything solid in my bowels.
Caffein enriched sports beans FTW*.
(*bring EPO, and anything else you can score)

Without the snow that could be Uxbridge Road... after repairs.

Did my first long solo ride on the road bike (92 miles). Not as fast as I'd have liked, but I will blame that on the hills. (Avg 16.1 mph)
Unfortunately the whole ride didn't record, for some reason the Garmin didn't 'Auto Start' but I didn't realise (sad face) and there were about 7 miles on the end that weren't picked up.
Beautiful day for riding, though. Definitely need to adjust my gears, I think the cables have finally stretched; by the end of the ride they were jumping all over the shop whenever I put the hammer down.

jb, turn the adjuster on the rear derailleur 2 or 3 clicks anti clockwise, should sort it.

I try later :-)

Tour of Wessex Day 1.
107 miles.
Sunny and pleasant companions.
Clive ate my fart. At least it stopped him swearing about the hill.

Nice tales of family fun and West Country riding... is what I would have written, had it not have been for the late addition of fart eating.
Me? I'm up North for the weekend, cycling around Clitheroe and Skipton.
Always on the job!
Good effort, shit-friends-of-friends notwithstanding.
