Quick ~50 miles with BC, last part Chris and I chased off the front as we had to get home, great fun.
I think my pal Simon Day might have been on that ride with you?

Yep, Simon was leading the ride.

I took some tentative steps towards the sordid world of off-road riding today. It was hard work, but also quite rewarding to see an area of Kent/surrey from a different perspective. I found some really pokey bridleways with fantastic views. It did get a bit 'horsey' at times but everything was remarkably civilised, even despite my being covered in mud from a hilarious spill where I nearly drowned in a large puddle and submerged two limbs in fetid farm mud. 45 miles including the slog home. My legs are a bit knackered...

Do I get a prize for the least interesting ride of the weekend? -

I rode up one of the most incredible climb in the UK this weekend. I can strongly recommend it! Fantastic views and an incredibly challenging climb especially with the weather conditions we had.
Bealach na ba or otherwise known as Applecross about an hour and half from Fort William in Scotland.
Fixed 48/21 going up and 48/17 down. Contemplated 48/14 on the down but that would have without doubt caused immediate death.
Strava details for any one interested.

This was technically last weekend, but I only got back to the UK yesterday - a 40 mile ride up the east coast of Lanzarote, from Costa Teguise to Orzola. It's no joke that it's called the Windy Island, mega headwinds as I went north. It was like cycling in perfectly smooth honey. On the turnaround I was literally laughing, everything felt perfectly still, I sat in the biggest ring all the way home and knocked out the last 20 miles in about 45 mins tops - never has a tailwind felt more magnificent. Still, I was happy to do it in about 2 1/2 considering all the cocktails and pooltime with my new wife!

Yeah thanks for the tip, staying in Alcudia, the area is supposed to be amazing for riding... Mountains to the west, coast road to the east, flat-ish lands to the South.

This is near Chichibu, about 70km west of Tokyo. Did just under 150km riding out and back.If you ever get the chance to come out here, definitely figure out a way to get a bike. There are some really wonderful (and horrendously challenging) routes. If you're lucky, you'll get to see some grizzled 70 year old ex-keirin racer pounding up insanely steep gradients.

saturday was a great day to be out on the bike. clocked up 45 northamptonshire miles with toegrimes off of here. rolling but the only real challenge was going passed so many promising looking pubs. eventually succumbed in priors marsden.

6hrs on the TT bike including a recce of a 25 course. I'm sore today. Why can't someone fix the potholes.. the potholes.. so many potholes...
How much do you reckon it would cost to buy a truck full of tar and just do it myself on roads I ride a lot?
I was riding SW which I don't often do because it's full of pricks but the Garmin sent me along some sweet lanes and because I'd actually managed to get up at 6am it was clear out of London. Fuck yeah! #pissedfump

Short off-road tour of the Peak District. The route was supposed to be cross bike friendly so naturally half the group turned up with hybrids; hilarity ensued with them being portaged up Cave Dale on the limestone way complete with flowery Decathlon panniers.
DC came better equipped with 2.35" rubber and 120mm of travel. I'd have loved to have ridden back down like the group of riders we met at the top.
Other highlights included riding the decaying road up Mam-Tor on a crosser and descending Winnat's Pass.

I rode the 160km Liege-Bastogne-Liege Challenge on Saturday. It was brilliant.
One day I hope to try the full distance version, but I don't have the lungs or the legs for that yet.

Windy flat MTB ride today.
84 miles/135km round the St George's Sportive from Princes Risborough.
I don't really see the point in sportives generally but some mates were doing it.
Pretty tough route with 6,000ft of climbing - a lot of which was packed into the last third. I did a lot of waiting at feed stops for others to catch up.
Nice to get some proper miles in the legs and ride some different roads.
