  • After yesterday I feel ruined.

The ride out to Brent Cross for work this morning was only 7 miles, but the whole thing felt more arduous than yesterdays 100miles. The bike was laden with 2 heavy panniers, and it felt all uphill, into a hideous headwind. Even the descents needed to be pedalled.

If felt like I was running on vapours, heart just did not want to do any work and legs felt similarly lethargic.

It is odd how it can be the little things that really test ones mettle.

  • Balls! Cover em up.

Always good advice, if only for legal reasons, but especially in this weather.

Gosh James, epic ride, yoga and socialising in one day. I'm tired just thinking about that :/

    Not surprised you feel ruined.

It was mad sunny over the weekend

    ENVY!

Stick them back in using MS-Paint

Needs 6pt epic no wee stops Rapha mash up thing.

Need to eat more? You need more fuel in the cold.

  • Dammit - some Hestra mitts for extreme weather and some generic heavy duty 5-fingers when it's just cold.

  • Sunday Cape Argus Tour. 109 km of closed roads, temperature in the mid thirties, organization of the whole event like clockwork, 36000 riders and it seemed that the whole population had come out to cheer and barbeque stuff by the roadside. Feed stations every 10 km with mechanics and physio if you needed it, plus extra mechanics patrolling on motorbikes to help out if required.
An absolutely beautiful course, sometimes with a nasty-ish headwind, but the hills nowhere near as bad as the usual suspects in Surrey, with long steady drags of no more than 8 or 9% gradient, and sweeping downhills to die for. I've never done a cycling event with such a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I heartily recommend the trip, and I'll definitely be aiming to do it next year.
    Downsides:
a, My bike, in it's very secure flight case, is still at Johannesburg Airport (Thank you SAA)
b, Due to an unforseen iPhone/Swimming Pool accident, I have no photos.
    c, Everything is fucking freezing!

  • "bbqs by the roadside" #dreams
    sounds like a good treat

  • @bad science.. I've only ever done cape point / chapmans peak drive by car back in 1995, when we stayed in sea point. Cape Town possibly the best city I have ever visited. I'll be back one day with my bike

  • Wuhuuuu - some of the Copenhagen crew from Fridays ride

  • Is the guy fourth from the right so ashamed of being in Rapha kit that he's trying to remain anonymous?

    Bartaping.
    Spring.cleaning.
    Eating/drinking.
    Exciting life.

  • Hit R.P. this morning, rain and wind big time. Upside was not much traffic - silver linings and all...

Why would I when you got a steerer that long?

  • Coffee ride for me:

  • Proper grim on the club run this morning. There's still snow on the tops of the Downs.

I need to get plenty of miles in at the moment but not sure I can face getting soaked to the skin a second day in a row. I'll decide in the morning.

  • Surrey Rumble tomorrow.

  • Bunch of ladies.
    MTFU.

  • Did you win?

  • Nope. Some guy wiped me out, literally just pulled sideways into me.
Que a return 25miles in utter agony.

  • was grim today. only 33 miles but the wind, rain and riding solo made it pretty unpleasant. i'll try to be more manly tomorrow

Little guy? Maybe wobbled with this wind people have been talking about.

    Looks calm tomorrow, just wet.
