  • ^^Are you wearing your new jersey for the duration of Tour de France?

  • Went out to do the same 4 hills I did last time I was in Bath (see map I posted before). Forgot to take a water bottle, it was very warm and humid, went home after the first hill. Rubbish.

But at least it meant my legs were fresh for this morning. 30 miles to work in 1h27m. That's a new personal best!

  • Cycled 60km around the fjords, on a lumpy route to my in-laws small holding.

Love this ride, the scenery changes around every corner, the assents and dessents are just enough to keep things interesting, and there's very little traffic. The best bit was knowing I'd have to cyle back the next day.

  • Bit quiet in here, has no one else been out in the sunshine?
Cycled from Bath to Oxford earlier today. Very very hot. Took a wrong turn which meant I ended up cycling along the A420 and doing a bit of a loop on a dual carraigeway, but apart from that section there was very little traffic. The only problem with roads with no traffic is there are no bloody pubs/shops to get more water so I was pretty dehydrated by the time I found a shop.
Took about 4h20m in total, bit disappointing after I got through the 1st 30 miles in 1h30m. I guess that's what dehydration and stops to check directions etc can do.

  • good ride A.
My dreams were shattered as I haven't got the parts I wanted/ no bib shorts either.
Also Costs shattered my other original dream..
    I've done Richmond park instead.
This week I think I might travel up to Newbury or Oxford during the week and have a swim at Port Meadow...mmmmm.
    plans.

  • riding around the city last two days, Hampstead ponds, LMNH, out again for a spin in a minute, pretty relaxed and enjoyable without the weekday nutters around,

  • Went out in and around God's back garden. Saw a dead badger, and someone taking off from their back garden in a helicopter. Punctured, fixed it, went home again. An uneventful 2 hours.

  • Does anything smell worse than a dead badger in the summer sun?

  • managed to pursuade mrs.murtle to go for a ride up the grand union canal, from brentford to hairfield and back, bloody cycle paths are shite.
nice day out though, with a few pub stops.
probably her longest ride. 35/40 miles.

  • I like that canal route, murts. It's a bit rough for a fixie fixie, but not too bad. I imagine it would have been packed with horrible human beings though, cycling, walking and running badly and exercising their young.

  • na, it wasn't too bad considering how nice the weather was, only a few fishermen, a few cyclists and the odd dog walker.
the surface isn't too bad for a fixie fixie, until you get towards hairfield, then it goes all soft sand/gravel which is fun

    You shoulda said.

Mal and I rode over to a couple of parks yesterday and came back on the GU canal.

    Yes, I also shoula said.

Yesterday, late arvo, we probably passed only 5 people from Brentford to Ealing hospital. Far less than I expected.

  • next time, i'll give you a shout

something like "OI! YOU FAT CNUT"
or maybe just ring you up on da phone

  • Does anything smell worse than a dead badger in the summer sun?

    Ancient Chinese proverb?

  • Cycled to Brighton and then back to London. That hill (Devil's Dyke?) near Brighton almost killed me, thought I'm gonna roll backwards.
As I didn't plan my route, few times by an accident I found myself on A23 or is it M23 - that was shocking, got out of there asap.

Truth, too much roadkill on my way too. Saw birds, badger, mouse, squirrel and other mash-up. The smell makes you go quicker, fact.

when you dad shoots 3 foxes at night and forgets he left them in the boot of a car over a summer weekend.

  • Yeah I reckon you could well be right there Mr S! Not had the pleasure myself, thankfully.

  • Weekend off. This week is a 2 day week at work due a trip to Leamington Spa on Wednesday. Train up with the bike and and planning 60 miles or so revisiting many of my old routes. Before riding back to London on Thursday (hangover permitting). I figured i should rest my legs - I walked about 10 miles this afternoon so bit of a fail there...

good onya Dimi, nice effort, that big hill is the famous Ditchling Beacon, south Englands Alps (or something like that..) glad you enjoyed it.
    stay off the a23 please...

  • Spent entire weekend in pain cave. Gutted, as I wanted to ride my bike.

  • I spent mine in the Pleasure Dome. The pain cave can piss off.

  • Made it to Cambridge for the first time on my ss on Saturday morning, all good except forgot not to take the A10 for the last stretch.

Attempted some laps of regents park today but my legs weren't feeling it...

Best roadkill: a perfectly preserved squirrel, on its back, except for one eyeball which had fallen out and was looking right at me.

  • Rode to Oxford on Saturday.
    Saw Red Kites.
    Fucking loads of them.
The Red Kite Ride is now DTM ; p

  • funny...doing some utfs and came across this: http://www.lfgss.com/thread3034.html

My parents actually live in Burwash just down the road from Etchingham, was there this w/e...glorious cycling country on the back lanes too, but hilly...
