That's one hell of a climb, should have gone around! ;)
I was running out of roads to do full circum-navigation and reach the magic 100 (first one). I thought it would be a shame to not go up top to take advantage of the view. Will remember my camera next time.
It was a beautiful night and I only walked on the very steep part of the down hill, tiredness was taking its toll. -

I'm so jealous. Nice one, Arducius et al.

Two days, to and from my Father's in Sussex. Forty six miles with a thousand meters of climbing each way. A pleasant bag of bits; fast and flat over Ashdown Forest; good hills through Kent, and an enjoyably speedy last leg through South London traffic (usually stodgy and slow). Nice little rides.
In between featured chatting with my old man over a paper, eating a Chinese take away with him and my girlfriend in the back garden, a walk in the woods, the first half of a Korean movie about mutant tadpoles, and the Red Arrows zipping around Biggin Hill earlier this afternoon.
Fucking good weekend, really.

Solo 38 miles out to Biggin Hill and back. Would have been better if I'd not dropped my only food on the floor at the top of Hesier's Hill, and then gone on a soul destroying unintentional detour to Orpington.

Out and about with BMMF, Jonny, purple_mj and shoots in the hills around the Surrey Kent border, saw a glimpse of illy at one point.
Bloody hot out there!

Three hours out and around Epping; rather pleased with my fitness after a week and a half off.
I could not but help notice the poor state of many of the roads, especially from Theydon to Toot Hill and Ongar: potholes, ditches and cracks big enough for a 25mm tyre to sink into. I doubt they will be repaired before the winter.

What a lovely day!
It started in Effingham at 14:20, yes the usual lovely intimate Effingham, a quick stop at the usual pissing point, a few moments watching around ..north? south? well who the fuck cares... 44 miles, 6 climbs, 3 killer gradients... I must agree with Jung.. Barhatch is the king of the gradients in that area.. but Tanhurst is not much less.
I really appreciated the silence due to the no presence of any human flesh.. every single second of that; no waiting, no stopping, no worries about catching up with faster flesh and no dick faces; just a few rabbits, sheep, cows, birds, a cat, plenty of noisy forrest, and no fucking dogs and not even jackals....
It took me three hours for this SSTC recce/ride, and I found some really nice bits...
A quick stop at the usual pub, just half a pint of guinness this time, alone, usually I don't really bother with drinks... back at home at 6:30, shower, dinner and now movie. -

not many matrimonials lead to vintage bike access....
something about them isnt there,
I still get super geeky about 531,
pearl Carlton- Pro-ams
black Raleigh Records and blue Harry Halls,
because these were what some of my mates dads rode when I was growing up in Blackpool, and all I had was a lump of coal to play with. -

Never mind, if you haven't been seduced into MULTIPLE BIKE OWNERSHIP now, you never will be. ;)
That's one hell of a climb, should have gone around! ;)
Here is the Oxford Graduation Ride route (Sat morning):

We deviated from this quite a bit but I'm not sure of the exact route we took. Cruised along the A4 a little way at the beginning, but after that I don't really know where we went, but we managed to rejoin the route on the outskirts of London somewhere. We also took a diversion down onto the Thames on the outskirts of Oxford to have some pub grub, before heading to the train station.
And here is the DD route (Sat evening/night/Sun morning):

Both of these combined with some to-ing and fro-ing at Oxford, and then a little riding around Bournemouth added up to about 210 miles :)
