  • Cheam & Morden Hilly 50 yesterday, today has been mostly spent trying to get rid of a hangover while spending an hour and a half in Kwik Fit.

  • They're the boys to trust though.

  • Also Cheam and Morden on Saturday. A solid route and good fun; though; I've been trying quite hard recently and wouldn't have minded finishing in under two hours.

Thoughts of latching on to the Surrey Rumble left late Saturday. C&M took more from me than I was expecting, as did babysitting a friend's two year old daughter for the evening. Instead, this morning was spent grouting a boat, followed by a low key 30 miles around North London, in my jeans. Regent's park's road surfaces appear to be having a spruce up.

Both rides were a reminder that exhilaration on a bike can be had for less than all the available day light. Mind you...

    ^^^The long one, then.

  • Nice day here in Brussels. Did a 90km loop down to Waterloo (couldn't escape if i wanted too) and around. As last weekend, saw all the trappings of a decent bike race (caravan, spectators, team cars and mororbikes) but never crossed paths with the riders.

Halfway in, trying to figure out the cause of a bit if pedal slop, I noticed the drive-side cup on my square taper BB had started unscrewing itself and got 2-3 turns into the process. Fffuuuuuuu....
Managed to finish the ride by stopping to htfu-finger tighten every 10k, but I fear what state my bearings and races will be in when I look tmrw. Sheldon was right - Italian thread BBs are STUPID.

  • 50 miles, a few sprints and some cake. A good morning:

Uncanny, I had exactly that problem when riding out near Overijse when I lived in Brussels. Must be a Belgian thing, like light shops.

  • Happened to me on the TdF cyclosportive in 2007, luckily after about 30 miles the route passed within a mie of home so I nipped back and sorted it out. Since then I've not been able to get the drive side cup out!

  • 3.5 hours around Regents Park. Fun* times.

    *not fun

No ride for me this weekend. Considering doing some laps around RP tomorrow after work - 3.30pm - anyone else up for it?

  • 190k today with the Surrey Rumble.

  • 190k today with the Surrey Rumble.

Bravo, Hippy. I did that ride last year. Aimed to do the shorter route but missed the turn off and did the long one. You enjoy it?

  • A Circular Trip Today.
Along the river from Purfleet, over the River to Dartford, picked up the Thames Path at Erith up to Tower Bridge then to Look Mum No Hands to spend cash at the Monthly Jumble Sale, then back home via Cycle SuperHighWay 3..... after seeing all that blue am sure i'll dream of Smurfs tonite.
48 miles i'm done for will probably pay for it tomorey.

    Do you live in Belgium?

    If not, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • :-)
The other "Belgian things" (chipsbeerchipsmayo) make up for it

  • Pootle round the countryside with somebody. Loop out from Shoreham, then head along the Pilgrim's Way towards Cudham. Nod to a cyclist who turns out to be Brave, and say hi to JAMIE soon behind him, turn around for a token follow but they're on the way home and there were more miles to be done.

Tom/Phil, sorry about that chaps, my legs had just caved in to a few tough days on the bike. Smashing seeing 2 friendly faces out in Eynsford though. Hope you enjoyed the rest of ride.

  • Just completed 60km of getting lost/ exploring south London. Nice to see 6pt and spybot, I owe you a beer! This was my first significant ride since mid-december (and about 7th ride since then counting all outings, the other 6-ish being commutes). Feels great to be back on the bike :-)

  • Fulham to Oxford in glorious sunshine.

  • Do you live in Belgium?

    If not, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Ooof! My first ever "aimed at me" chevrons.

  • I did the East rides starting in Tottenham...with a bit of extra mileage going to far and getting a bit lost around Galleons Reach and coming back across the river at Greenwich Foot Tunnel - with out of order lifts!

First time in 10+ years of living in London I've been on the Woolwich Ferry or through the foot tunnel!

  • 3.5 hours around Regents Park. Fun* times.

    Good TT (boredom) threshold training

1700m climbing over 100k which isn't bad. A bit hypothermic on the decents but otherwise a pretty nice ride.

I like the course but soooo bumpy. I had a big week beforehand (no rest day) so was pretty tired but still managed to sit on my 24 'race pace' which was good.

  • Good TT (boredom) threshold training

I've been getting a whole new load of respect for anyone who finishes a 24hr TT let alone cracks 500 miles.. :S

  • Nice spinny 25 mile loop around London. First time brakless at grand old age of 38. Must say it was quite enjoyable, made me think way ahead and loving clean lines at front of the bike.

Felt it later though, in my knees and upper thighs.

  • Went for a ride up to Waltham Abbey... man the Lea valley paths could do with re-surfacing. There's one section they have done which is awesome, then the rest of the time it's like being off road.

Still was nice to get out and have a roll along somewhere. Man I'm slow, 30 mile trip, 3.5 hours... and I knew where I was going!
