  • My weekend ride involved two x four hour sessions on Newport track, doing starts tts and team sprints. Legs were absolutely killed on saturday night and I nearly puked yesterday. Nice!

  • ^ Newport track is lush though isnt it, super smooth perfect size, better than my local Calshot blender experience...

    @Skully --no you certainly dont!
if were going along the lines of 'Italian is good', which generally works for aesthetes and culture fans (but in variably means high maintanence...) then good.

Cool to read about all your rides, full scale summer shit going on here, like it all.

Hope the Rapha riders got back in dry- sky time....

All others, specially soloers sweet efforts.

My result from Polaris in the Peak isnt up yet,
but collected a tidy 530 points from the navigation on 100 k sat, 75 k yest, bout 1600 m climb in all around the South Peak. Handling on dirt tracks compromised a bit by having to run 70 ish so road hacks go fast, but, Sat on the ST4 dual susser was like a dream,
7 hours of just spinning, climbing, fast offroad, fantastic Peakland views,
that bike never stops giving, yest harder to get relaxed and focused enough. glad to back at work for a rest, bring on next weekends midsummer night road ride, yeah.

  • Took my french cousin out for a cycle along the canal, decided to take in the London sights but had to cut it short for a trip to A&E!!

Now my poor little french cousin has a broken elbow!

  • Oh no--what happened?

Sympathising particularly as I broke my elbow a while ago.

  • I saw a Bugatti Veyron on a tiny lane near Epping Forest. Don't see those every day!

I was under the impression that lanes were rather common...?

  • pah you and the old oblique humour again...

  • Oblique isn't the word I'd use...

  • something got caught in the back wheel so she grabbed the brakes and it flipped her over the front!

not a great start to her 3 month visit!

  • It'll probably take all of that time to heal. Mine's three months and counting. Is is a complex fracture?

  • You couldn't see it on the xray, we'll know more after her follow up in a couple of days, I hate breaking bones, only just got over smashing my wrist

    10/71, well happy..

Argh, is that because the brakes were the wrong way around for her?

  • Went up to Scotland to do some MTBing at Glentress (matt (baddesigner)'s stag, innit!). Fucking lovely trails, amazing weather (who'd'a thunk it!), good company, awesome times. We had two pretty full days of riding, and on the second day as people were getting ready to head back a few of us decided it'd be more fun to stick around for a couple of more hours before returning the rental bikes. The group split and four of us went back up. Aimed straight for the free ride course (which we'd fucked around a bit earlier in the day) to get some "sweet air." Should have gone back with the others.

Cheers to Dan (dan) for hanging out in the hospital with me.

So. That may be my summer fuckered.

  • shit. heal up fast.

Just have the same attitude as that guy (5:26):

  • Oh no, Mark! Not another injured person. Really sorry to hear that. :(

How long is that going to take to heal?

More than three months and counting over here. Hope yours is quicker!

  • eurostar, van, mt ventoux, van, eurostar. home. BANG!

  • Sounds like a pretty sweet weekend ride. I'd love to do Ventoux!

    true? top work fella!

@Horatio, gutted for you, heal up soon.

  • true? top work fella!
    .

yes 100% true. gave it everything in a show of respect. best moment was the shout of 'magnificent' as i flew up the last section. then i nearly died. brilliant.

  • How steep is it?

  • around 8-10% (which is enough to have everyone in the easiest gear). never really gets that steep just keeps going and going and going and going and going. you can make it as hard as you want by going faster, racing up it must be a buzz.
for those that cannot read german...
