A nice way back from Wilmslow is through the Airport tunnels, right at the freight terminal, down Thorley Lane, down the bridleway that brings you out at Brooklands roundabout, straight over, onto the canal towpath.
Tis a bit sticky this morning. -

Yeah I often overlook that way, would avoid that climb at Styal too, I was attacking backwards like a spent domestique up there today.
So glad I went early. DnB on the bike is going to be melty later.

Attacking backwards like a spent domestique, fantastic, pretty much describes me on every ride I do.

Nice views. Is it Schwarzwald? I'd like to go to Germany next year for a week of cycling with lots of climbs, where should I go?

Two weekends ago, this was my first time there but surely there will be another cycling holiday in the Dolomites region in Italy! Stunning.

No, just the area around Bad Kreuznach, I took the photo in a little town called Burgsponheim.
Landscape's lots of vines, some climbs up to 600m ish and easy access to the Rhine and Nahe river going via Bingen.
I've been going back and forth between here where my Dad's in hospital ATM and Odenwald area, about 130k away, where my Mum is based. Over there it's not vines but much more forest, apple trees and lots more climbing, although the max elevation is similar.
Going to and fro will bring you through the flat Rhine valley around Darmstadt and makes for a great 130k ride with about 1000m very one way.
Can recommend both. So far I've mostly been off the main roads, there's a great network of singed quiet roads, dedicated bike lanes, forest roads and gravel paths. Ideal for a gravel bike.

Oh it actually posted! Fair doos.
It's the road of sun hell between Bellante and Amandola, Italy. Gl
Genuinely too hot for humans, never mind Scottish humans, to be cycling. First time I've felt ill with heat.

Beautiful shot
As a resident of South Australia I can tell you it's possible to get used to heat to a certain extent, but it's better to just stay out of it on certain days and ride evenings or mornings.

I've been riding in the heat for months now. Like a frog in a pot, gradually getting hotter but yesterday was mad. Probably accumulation of fatigue after a couple of big days but yeah not a nice experience.

Yeah. When it's hammering down in Adelaide is usually when the Tour Down Under is in town and we all ride out to the stages and many local riders put in their biggest weeks of the year. It's super important to keep on top of your liquids and back it off a bit as well. But like I said, some days I now just call it. Sounds like you wanna take a few days off and just do some easy stuff?
