Neils Wheels in East Molesey have become my go to LBS. Staffed by keen off-roaders, fast turn around on the repair jobs I don't have time for and bullshit free advice.
They now have a branch in Kingston too. They tend to focus on fixed wheel, practical commuter and off road bikes.
. -

Cheers Oliver, I saw this thread bumped and thought I ought to mention Neil's Wheels.

It's a bit out in the sticks, but I've just found a new local bike shop in Coney Hall (near Bromley, Kent) that seems decent. Lots of nice random bits and bobs, old Campag Record etc. The owner was a nice bloke and knew his stuff.

Great, there's a really active LCC group in Bromley now and I hear of good things happening, probably in road riding, too.

Another shout out for Hackney Peddlar because they're nice peeps and the frames they have hanging around are SO pretty, plus easy to gorge on Summer Pie and double espresso in the Russet opposite. Not completely certain of the function of LMNH Mark II by Netil house? Just has accessories not a workshop. Saw a fun bike documentary screening the otherday but otherwise just the shell of a bike shop in-fact more of a boutique beer cafe (which has it's merits), was missing the grime though.

LMNH Mare Street unfortunately turned out not to have enough space for a workshop. Who knows, maybe in due course they'll manage to add one somehow. Hackney Peddler are great guys.

The Better Health Bakery in Haggerston is now opening a Bike Shop next door - saw the sign on the canal today. http://betterhealthbikes.org.uk/?page_id=2

Thanks for the info, MitzEclipse. We're moving more and more towards 30 bike shops in Hackney:

Hackney Peddler are great guys.
I was passing on Sunday and nearly rode past the junction but something drew me down the lane. There waiting for me was the bike I'd been looking for the past 10 years, and in my exact size.
Really nice helpful guys and some great stock, reasonably priced.

I've always believed that coincidences are predictable but now I'm not so sure!

Surely a predictable coincidence is a plan?

The struggling tiny shop with low-end bits on the CS7 known as CyclePS is now a 3 location chainstore behemoth with new showroom and bike-fitting space in Vauxhall. I also received my first poor service from them as well (in Kennington - Harvey in Camberwell has always been and will always be my Top Boy). The new Evans?
I feel I should reiterate though the Camberwell shop is tight. Love it in there.

4 locations then, there's a brand new one in Battersea too. I've only had good experiences in Camberwell and Battersea (although I use them mostly as cafes, not had any mechanical work done).

No, the point is you don't know when the coincidence will happen, but when it does you shouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, picked up the bike today, very happy. The Hackney Peddler boys done good.

Yet another new bike shop in Hackney:

Oh, and ...
We now appear to have more than 30 bike shops/businesses in Hackney, if one counts bespoke bike builders which you can visit by appointment, Look Mum Mare Street (which doesn't have a workshop and only sells accessories, so isn't strictly a bike shop) and social enterprises such as the London Bike Kitchen.
The economic basis of cycling is a crucial indicator of the growth of cycling and also a key ingredient in further growth. It makes me really happy that so many bike shops are opening.
The current list, which we believe to be correct, is here, although it's entirely possible that something may have closed somewhere:

Found another one opening on my commute home today: MiCycle East - https://twitter.com/MicycleEast
Down the street South from De Beauvoir Deli on Southgate Road -

Is the original Micycle still open? That doesn't seem that far from MicycleEast.
