• A basic proposal:
Newington, start at 12, throw-ins all day, fundraising beers and BBQ food for sale, finish at sun-down (or move to the pub if people are still standing)?

Bill and I are sorting the beer, BDW has a large grill, I can supply fundraising food and charcoal/utensils, unless people would just rather bring their own to cook?

Are we doing the awards, etc, too? How's that gonna work? (Paper ballot on the day... controversial!)

  • That sounds good.

    Sorted.

  • i'd much prefer Downham for this. I just feel it works better for these type of days where it's more about the fun than serious polo.

Last league we submitted all our votes to locket for the different awards. He collated them all and revealed the winners on the day. This worked well and i'd suggest doing the same this time. Locket are you attending and up for this again?

  • I was gonna do a google form for the awards, I just haven't done it yet. Coming soon...

  • +1 for downham.

  • +2

  • Newington would be better for a day of throwins but to be honest whenever there have been days there, they seem to sag halfway through and end with only a few people, most going seperate ways.

I don't particularly care though. And will support anything that goes.

    even better! nice one

  • Ok, well lets wait for some others to chime in, I don't mind either way... Downham for ambiance or Newington for more polo.

  • Downham for me, dave & robb... and we live MILES away!

    I'll bring the marshmallows.

  • All this fucking democracy...
cant someone just be a fascist and order everyone to march in line to the one place?

I vote for Newington. More space around the edge for fun and frolics. Extra court for throw in games. The birthday tourney worked well there, apart from the poxy rain.

  • Downham please

  • Providing I can take annual leave to get out of work

  • I vote Downham, it's better for keeping everyone together.
    Better atmosphere.

  • ^ yerp and i'm a newt fascist.

  • Im lost whats going on with this? its this weekend and where is it? Seems like NE makes sense.

  • Looks like Downham to me... if the Southies are even saying Downham, then it makes sense!

Does anyone know where to source some cheap (quality) meats and veg..? I'd like to be able to sell food to those that don't bring any...

  • Borough Market, 4.20pm Saturday. That Butchers just up the alley from Monmouth. All sorts of fine sausages for bargainous prices. Got to time it just before they close and before it's all gone.

  • And get it to downham when everyone is already trashed!

  • those percentages make my head hurt.

  • As much fun as a Meat mission ride may be, I was hoping to buy the food stuffs before Saturday?

  • for quality meat, any Waitrose will do

    I will bring mine tho

also, I have charcoal I could bring

  • mmm, Rik's Quality Meat®.

Don't know about veg, but McKanna butchers on Theobald's Road is top quality and pretty cheap. Their Toulouse sausages are amazing.

  • Also, E. Wood on Liverpool Road is great, all from their own farm in suffolk, they come in to london on fri/sat to sell their chopped up beasts.
