  • so what are we doing then? Is there a route? A plan to hunt these elephants?

We hunt from Parliment heading west through the jungle as far as Holland Park. Then head east, staying north of the river as far as the City marsh lands. Finally we track them south as far as Elephant & Castle (oh the cliché) before finishing back at Parliment square via the South Bank.

    The gmap is here:

I've decided I'm not doing the cambridge ride

  • I knew it!

  • Yeah Matt, youre phychic!

  • I knew it!

  • So, I did half the cambridge ride, but I'm back in London now.

Are people still up for this? I am, depending on when the weather holds, doesn't look great here.

ChainBreaker, are you still doing this? and riding over from east? Give me a call if you are, you should have my number in a pm, and we can ride over together, I guess leave here around 18:30

  • I'll still be going along for sure. Just hope it doesn't break into a major storm!

  • looks like im in still but rsther buggered still.

John, we certainly could ride out together.

    Kirth, see you there then!

Cool, well, probably see you around 6:30 then

  • Yep, despite that nasty little downpour this is still going ahead. I did a reconnaissance ride last night and this morning and I think it's fair to say that there's definitely a shed load of 'em. Really looking forward to it now though!

We'll be rolling at 20:00 sharp. If you're late we will be swinging by Parliment Square again arnd 20:20 but you'll need to be infront of the square rather than the usual meet spot at the back.

I'm still planning on getting to Parliment Square around 7:30 so looking forward to seeing you all then...

  • hey! have fun guys i just got home is lovely out there today! lots of lovelys!hahahha! love summer gotta say! im sad ill be missing this!!! hope to koin next one ull plan! ride safe guys! and drink safe also! hahaha

  • Well, I got home just before the rain started.

  • Yep, its just started tipping it down, bad times!

  • Yeah it was nice to cycle the final stretch in the rain... it's warm out there.

What happened to you guys (John etc..) ? Ducky, myself and Morris carried on out west. I'll post photo's soon.

  • Photographs from last night have been uploaded:

    Elephant Ride

Love the Meerkats in this one:

  • Caption competition?

  • Ah, that kid didn't look so happy about 10 seconds later...

  • We got split up before Sloane Square. There were 2 along the King's Road that we stopped at before heading to Sloane Sq, then just as we arrived at the Sq, you tore off back down the King's Road. We headed after you, and saw 2 more on the way, so stopped to take more pictures. Then we carried along King's Road until Beaufort St, but we'd lost you.

In the end we discussed trying to regroup at Holland Park but had no idea when you were going there, so gave up, went back to St James Park, had an incident with another taxi on the way, met someone's girlfriend and her mate, drank peach fizz, laughed at a stranger being told to "present" himself to us, and headed home. It was a shame to get left behind, as we were speeding up nicely towards the end after a slow and broken up beginning, and it would have been good to keep together.

My GPS map for the ride up to us being left behind is: http://www.endomondo.com/workouts?w=oFvmChNCBug

Can someone PM me the details of the first taxi driver? I think a report to the PCO is in order.

  • So mine got broken into two :(

    Here's the first major bit:

And then (with some broken gps, apparently I did 40 odd mph!)
