  • Just put 52-42-27 x 14-34 7-speed friction old shit on my tourer. I reckon a less than 1:1 bottom gear for kid towing and bag hauling is acceptable.

Sorry I'll go back to the beardy threads.

  • Don't apologise. Don't grow a beard.

My cargo bike has silly spinny gearing.

    Proper load pulling is exempt.

FWIW Getting off and pushing is harder than spinning. If the trailer is back heavy, it lifts therear wheel.

  • Fucking tourist ^^

  • What's the story there Hippy, V-brakes as well a the triple?

  • It's Andy Wilkinson doing 541mi in 24hrs. TT legend. He rides the same bike everywhere - races, audax, etc.
Take off the funky wheels, add panniers and he's got his audax/touring machine.

  • I think he use his bike for everything from touring to TT?

  • Snap.

  • Too much touring Ed, you're too slow. :P

  • It's a damn sight better than going up and down the same motorways that's for sure.

    Was he running 26" wheels?

  • Someone said 650C. I have no idea as my eyes only recognise 700C.

    I hate this guy.

I firmly believe I need 5 bikes for a combination of short distance commuting, and leisure riding.

    ....actually 6, possibly 7

Amassing of gear > actual cycling

  • Andy's doing it old school.
