And Russia is allowed into the Olympics, why?

I like how everyone in the media are politely ignoring that we came above Russia in the medal table in 2012 in a record year for missed tests by UK athletes.
-
• #5030
What does that prove and why is it relevant?
-
• #5031
It's the Armstrong argument. If Russian athletes have an alleged state sponsored medical programme, and still aren't winning, what does that say for the countries finishing above them ?
The other countries are winning clean and Russian athletes are just bad despite the medical assistance ? Or is it the other thing ? -
• #5032
It proves that the British stiff upper lip and a sense of fair play is all that's needed to beat a giant like Russia engaged in a state sponsored doping programme.
Go Blighty.

I'm sure the British sense of honor and "it's just not cricket" stickler for the rules will see any cheaters named and shamed... oh...

Practice, protein.

You forgot dessert... testosterone, HGH, EPO

Well, the medal table argument is a little disingenuous - we do well because we target sports in which throwing a shit load of money at them can give us a return. Cycling's the very obvious one, but other stupid sports like sailing, rowing etc, where most of the world doesn't give a fuck are good prospects for medals. Russia loves the banner sports, like athletics. There's a lot of complaints from middle distance runners particularly about the russian athletes. Tends to be that dirty athletes don't complain about other dirty athletes so much.

Two of those Golds were British Great Mo Farrah, so no doping there.
And if he was doping, he's Somalian anyway.
-

Yeah. You can argue for the home advantage, but I completely understand what you're saying.
Kenya and Jamaica top though.
I'm gonna say Ennis was clean - technical events, good facilities could give you as much of an advantage as doping.
Christine Ohugaru - dirty, most likely - she got a sanction for missed tests
Mo Farah - genetically gifted, comes from the right part of the world for distance running, but also trains with Nike/Salazar. Uncertain.
Greg Rutherford - probably clean. No one's been exceptional in the long jump for ages; he won with eight thirty something? Not exactly a huge jump. Technical event.
Robbie Grabbartz - did well for his bronze, technical event again.Oh fuck, I just realised you posted the world champs, not the last olympics. Fuckit

and under three of the dirtiest running countries...

Jamaica and Kenya have very special dope testing regimes.
-
• #5046
they test to make sure it works...
-
• #5047
And it does!
-
• #5048
Those who know about such things are fairly sure Farah doped in the run-up to the Olympics. The home advantage adrenalin/weak competition that year apparently don't account for it.
I have no opinion either way.

Sailing is not a stupid sport! You probably don't understand it. It does make for shit tv though.
Sochi Olympic lab boss who fled to USA has gone on record about what they were doing to mask athlete positives including him personally prescribing steroid cocktails and swapping urine samples for Russian athletes under Kremlin pressure to win at al costs
