Oleg has given his support to Sharapova
Oleg has obviously bought the Kremlin line that the whole world is against Russians.

it seems contradictory to the under the bus throwing hypothesis that she would then be afforded the high level of control over the story that she has so far
I don't think Maria Yuryevna has been thrown under the ЛиАЗ-5292, I was making a wider point about Russians in trouble from which she is probably an exception for several reasons. For a start, the tennis business probably needs her more than she needs them (I was slightly surprised to discover that she's even still playing, I thought she'd gone full-time celebrity model), which would explain why they are keen for her to get a story out there which will make it easy for them to give her a nice short suspension - drug prescribed by her doctor for a medical condition...recent changes to proscribed list...honest oversight...did I mention she's pretty and white and please can we have our poster girl back in the competition?

ITF is dogy as fuck on doping positives and does silent dope bans hence superstars getting "injured" suddenly and for a long time i.e. Sharapova pulled out of a tournament immediately after being advised of this (not publicised) adverse finding citing an injury.
ITF were going to pull their usual routine but apparently rumours were out there and she pre-empted getting Contadored by German TV or similar.

A guy I know - high powered lawyer type - worked several years ago either with or against the LTA. Can't remember which it was. A load of stuff was about to come out about stars like Sampras and Rusedski and others - I forget who now. They were all doped to high buggery - testosterone was the headline drug, I think. I imagine my mate was involved in making sure it got buried, actually, knowing who he works with. Ahh, moral grey areas. Now that's where lawyers do best. Fuckers.

Ethiopia: 9 top athletes under investigation
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia (AP) — Nine Ethiopian runners, five of them "top athletes," are under investigation for doping, the general secretary of the country's anti-doping agency said Monday, raising fears of another damaging scandal for track and field in the run-up to the Rio Olympics. -

#LetMariaPayBackAllTheOtherPlayersSheCheatedOutOfEarnings
S.Williams is 19-2 up on Maria in head to head contests and still earns less, I think there's something other than doping which has cheated other players out of earnings.

Do you mean skin colour?

I was thinking along the lines of match winning earnings but you raise a good point.

Do you mean skin colour?
Well, I think the polite term is marketability, and it's obviously not as simple as just colour.
If you look at the Forbes list (not likely to be 100% accurate, but a handy general guide), genderway seems to be more telling than colourway. Maria and Serena are both massive outliers for their gender in terms of endorsement earnings.

Hmmmmmmmmm
Nadal said he was “a completely clean guy” and that he took only the anti-inflammatories Fenbufen and Voltaren
That would be the Fenbufen which was withdrawn from the market in 2010, but which allows rats to dope with clenbuterol for skeletal muscle growth without suffering cardiac hypertrophy as a side effect?

Don't we though? Her dad's got a dubious record, her brother's a documented cheat, and she got busted with a motor in her bike. What else do we need to know? As a family they've tried to game the system and it's imploded spectacularly-it's unfortunate the UCI were'nt more focused on getting the mia culpa rather than the PR of a lifetime ban but I don't really think it's needed in this case anyway as the excuse was so fucking poor.

The French have a thing for Nadal since a long time and haven't been very subtle about it:

Given that it's likely a collision of hocus-pocus and bunkum, it could easily have ended up being hocum
