Nike put money into :-
Lance Armstrong
Alberto Salazar's Oregon project
Kenyan athletics federation
amongst many othersJust bad luck that Nike get involved with so many shady organisations I guess ?
Re Coe. There's rumours on the internets that Nike athlete Lord Coe was a Conconi customer ?

Correlation =/= causation. I can't see Nike having an interest in athletes doping. They have an interest in their athletes being those who are winning. Those who are winning may be those who are doping. If they weren't doping, someone else would be winning, and Nike would be sponsoring them.

As a professional athlete, I am more than happy to urinate into a cup, roll up my sleeves and allow a stranger to stab at my arm to provide blood - yet I couldn't tell you what the testers are trying to identify in the samples they take.'
Whaaaaaaaaaaat?

^ This doesn't surprise me. A hell of a lot of athletes would have little to no knowledge of biological systems and medical testing.
Someone in Dubai that I used to see around the traps just got popped for clenbuterol and oxandrolone. All to get around cape epic in the 40+ cat, slightly faster than otherwise. Unbelievable. Claimed it was ventolin and antihistimes that caused a false positive.
The only positive (well not the only one) is that he is now on the same UCI list as Luca Paolini.

She strikes me as crushingly naive.

Agree. Her first four words in that article are "as a professional athlete". The rest of the article then seems to set out to prove otherwise.

Glad I'm not the only one who is a bit flummoxed

Paula Radcliffe has been reaaaaalllllly vocal hasn't she? Britains most vocal anti-doping athlete? Remember her? That absolutely no media outlet has even mentioned in their coverage over the last week?
What's that Linford?

I'm inclined to think every successful British athlete is fully juiced. I've built a mental defence by deciding that I only love Sir Brad for his beard, tatts and bad boy attitude. Screw the rest of them.

I knew your Olympic success was founded on chemicals and lies! Bastards!

Speculation running riot on Paula over here.

This point on the insularity/money/connections is stark, if true.
Cram, Radcliffe, Foster and Coe are all good friends, Coe could possibly some time soon be in charge of the IAAF, Foster owns the TV rights to the Diamond League and the Great Run Events (pretty much the only non track events shown on BBC) and would no doubt be after more, he also now owns the mouthpiece of athletics in the UK, Athletics Weekly. Radcliffe, until this broke was trying to get on the IAAF panel for cross country (if she already hasn't).... Cram, Radcliffe and Coe all work in some capacity for Nike, Cram, Radclife and Foster all work for the BBC, it's a very small group of people with an awful lot of say in the uk

I'm really jaded with pro Sports at the moment. Nothing substantiated so read with a modicum of scepticism but an interesting read here:
