^he's whear?
this hit the shelves this week in NL: 'Blood Brothers'
Rabo team's doping system and blood machines were much more sophisticated than US Postal's, according to the authors of this book. They even claim 2 sources confirm that Michael Boogerd received a blood transfusion ...with his brother's blood... before the TdF stage win in La Plagne. Boogerd denies this.

That Pantani doped isn't the elephant in the room, it's the mother-flippin' mammoth or blue whale or something. He got busted for it, he died from it.
How did he die from it? He died from a massive cocaine overdose.

Pantani didn't test positive or admit to doping though, did he? He just failed a "health test with elevated hematocrit. So, his results shouldn't be stripped and if they are so should the last 100 years of Tour winners..

Well to be pedantic cocaine is PED, but obviously he wasn't using it for that. I dunno, just symptomatic of his inherent lack of stability, the two seem to connect don't they?

Nope.

Only if you follow the narrative.

What? Lance Armstrong didn't test positive. I never understand why Pantani gets a free pass.

He's a climber. They're all a little bit fragile mentally.
Cocaine is hardly a PED - other than a brief feel-good factor it's mostly negative effects. You'd get better boost from ephedra or a load of other, slightly more legal (not in sport) stimulants.

Lance admitted to doping. Pantani never admitted to doping nor did he test positive for any doping products. Is that clearer?

• #2137
He only admitted to it *after *he had been stripped of his wins.
-
• #2138
Pantani gets a free pass because he's dead, didn't appear to be a total cunt (although that might not be the case) and he was an attacking throwback to a bygone era.

So what you're saying is that dopers with panache are OK? :)

So?
Pantani never admitted to it and it was after evidence was given against him by his whole team..

People should be able to drink shandy without persecution!

Not at all. I was merely citing the reasons those who give him a free pass use.

It's like the last twelve months didn't happen.

You were how high?
-
• #2146
I think I've met more people who fervently wanted to believe that Pantani was clean than with any other pro rider, even more than with Ullrich.
-
• #2147
I don't believe he was clean. I'm merely saying there was no team evidence, no admission and the bloke is dead so altering the results is a bit pointless. What about all the other guys that were on some kind of stimulant in the past - knock them from the records and there's nothing left.
-
• #2148
I don't mind. Shit, eliminate enough riders and I might have a crack at being the first Tour winner or maybe I'll take the Hour record or something.
-
• #2149
Merckx - Everyone seems to forget the "greatest cyclist ever" was busted three times!
-

altering the results is a bit pointless.
It's not pointless for the gutless corrupt fucks of the UCI though. Mcquaid is looking for a cheap way to look as if he supports anti-doping, without actually having to do so.
Statute of limitations, although they ignored that a bit with Lance. But Lance isn't dead, Pantani's not hear to answer, to defend and to explain.
