  • Nope, all of you! ;) thanks for helping though! Hugo came closest. That's a way actually.
Still would like to know from Hope, since she said she bought them off ebay and it sounded quite like what I want.

  • I spoke to Phil at the track and mentioned starting a beginner night on tuesday at herne hill. He seemed keen, i cant remember what else there was on that night. Triathletes maybe which means we might get a few people interested from that lot. Anyone want to go there on Tuesday?

  • If that attracts more newbies (also kids maybe if we get smaller loaners?) I think it's a good idea and it doesn't matter which day. But I thought the Newt session was quite established - in comparison to Saturday eg. and especially for northies still reachable. We shouldn't kill it, I want to say. But maybe there are enough people to have Newt and HH sessions at the same time on Tuesday. Don't know. Or there's someone trying to get a North beginner session going again on another day...

  • Please keep the Tuesdays at Newt!

It would be nice to have two beginners night per week anyway, instead one far or two at the same time..

I just got my polo bike finally, and however I'd love tn go HH as well, I would miss the Tuesdays at Newt badly

"security torx button head screw" ?

    (can't stop guessing)

great ideas, especially the last one, on www.bikehacks.com/bikehacks/2010/03/eight-solutions-to-fight-bicycle-part-theft.html

hey i think if the Tuesdays happen at HH there probably wont be enough to also have a Newington Tuesday beginners... But then, that would mean that Newington G dies off a little, since most southies are now up for HH. Are you ready to kill Newington? although it shouldn't be that way, it can be soem at HH some at Newington, and i know there was a chat on having some days at Newington and some at HH (generally, not just beginners)

Anyway, if the case is HH for Beginners maybe a weekday North is a good idea. (but this not volunteering to run them, i'm a little too busy)

I think London Fields has not picked up because most people on Saturday mornings preferred to heal hangovers and also there was a constant issue with the BB players. If it was on a different time/place maybe it would work better.

Anyway, my opinions are not too strong, just sharing thoughts really.

  • Am gonna try and com to goldsmiths /farm for bout midday !!

  • Cool!
Reminder again (see above!): polo session behind the Albion, goldsmith row, Hackney, today starting at 10ish! Bring loaners, mallets and your friends who always wanted to try polo!

    hey, is this Mani?

  • Yes!! Ur?

  • Here's a question for Hope: I don't know who you are here on the forum. You had these blocking magnets for allen key screws on your road bike. You remember, we talked about this. Where did you get them from? Can you send me a link or something pls? I can't find them anywhere. Thanks! :)

Yes they were magnets, 5mm x 4mm similar to these -http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/40-Very-Strong-Neodymium-Disc-Magnets-N52-Grade-craft-reborn-5mm-x-3mm-/200988132895?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2ecbd3861f

The idea was that you put them in any steel 5mm or 6mm allen key bolt to block it, then to remove just use another magnet to pull it out. However as most allen keys are steel any thief can simply use their allen keys to remove the magnet so I popped a bit of prick-stick on the magnets when putting them in - just enough to stop someone removing the magnet with an allen key but not so much that I can't remove it with a stronger magnet.

It's not a very exact science and I'm sure that there'll be a few I'll need to heat up or douse with white spirit to remove but so far they've worked and the few I had to remove have come out easily with a larger magnet.

HAVING SAID THAT Hope's new Brooks Cambium saddle got nicked this week in broad daylight :( The seat clamp had a magnet and there was a lock on it too but the magnet wasn't quite long enough so you could still squeeze an allen key in there...

So if anyone sees a dodgy C17s in slate on Gumtree or Brick Lane Market let us know!

  • Bit of cross posting but if any beginners are looking for a polo bike then I'm selling mine here -

  • Hey Bobby - I think my friend Joel might have model scouted you this weekend... I'm pretty sure I saw you on his instagramzzz

Bobby- same thing happened to me 2 months ago- BLB leather saddle got nicked from Shoreditch on Friday... Found on Sunday at Brick Lane Market... I suggest - go there in the morning and you will find it... There is a stall- off Brick Lane at the car park where they sell only stolen saddles. That's where I found mine...

  • Shit... sorry about that. Keeping my eyes open.

  • Just spotted some pics of the polo session yesterday on twitter and thought I'd love to give that a go.. so what's the deal with the beginners session then? Have checked the website and had a quick search on here but there's not much to go on.

I've got a bike to ride although not sure it's much suited to polo but obviously don't have any of the other kit/etc. Would like to come down and watch next time you guys are planning something around HH - please let me know.

Just found this old thread but it doesn't say much about HH.

  • Yeah I was going to go to Brick Lane on Sunday but was a bit worse for wear and didn't fancy arguing with some miscreant about a saddle... Maybe next week!

Ha yeah I think so! Have you got a link to the instagram?

If you can make it to Newington Gardens on Tuesday the beginner's there are pretty consistent, I expect there'll be one tomorrow so you're welcome to come along to that. I don't think the Herne Hill beginner's sessions have taken off yet but will hopefully start up in the next few months.

I'm sure your bike will suffice for your first few sessions at least and someone will have a loaner mallet to use.

Great, that's on my route home, I'll stop past and check it out tomorrow. Cheers for the heads-up.
