I'm not sure if I'll be down, got a "new" polo bike, however it needs a couple of changes.
Can I use it if it still has a cassette on the back and some extra chainrings on the front(has a bash guard also)?
I also don't have any mallets or balls(sic)?

Hey,
Any chance I can come and play at beginners polo? Just moved over from Cardiff where my mates play & am hoping to get into it more! Watched the Open finals on Sunday which were a laugh... when and where do beginners meet? -
• #429
Sandy, chainrings at the back aren't too much of a problem, exposed chainrings at the front are dangerous.
So if the bashguard is covering it then fine. Would be advisable to take them off when you can though.Gracicles, you're very welcome to come down. All the details are on the front page.
The only problem is I'm not coming tomorrow so if anyone needs spare mallets, they will need to be collected from my house in SE22 today. I would make sure there are enough people coming though so wait and see if 6 people put their names on the list first.1.

Ahhh, missed that! thanks Wicksie.
What time do people normally stick around until? Don't think i can get there until 730/8 at the earliest as i live and work the other side of london! otherwise I will have to figure out some faster transport.... -

We play until we can't see the ball anymore. There are lights but they're not the best so after 9pm ish.
There are a few people coming down from Hackney way who get the East London line home from Honor Oak Park, if that helps?! -

It's a 1 piece crank so I have to replace all 3 chainrings at the same time, think I found some on ebay, the bash guard covers them pretty well.
I don't think I'll be down but I got the ski poles. There in pretty good shape. I've got 4 spare so PM me if you need one. I'll be posting another thread to find someone who can swap for pipe or wants to buy them.

I almost certainly won't be down tomorrow, as i'll head to rik's tap out.
-
• #434
is anyone not going to 'Rik's tap out' gonna be there tonight? I couldn't make last week as I had to work late.
-
• #435
im out tonight, as for anyone else, it'd be good to ask joni, as most that would be going would have picked up a ball/mallets
-
• #436
No one picked up anything, so I'm thinking it's not happening tonight.
Shame though.Next week for sure, and if I can find someone to drill my brake bridge, and make me a double lever, we may have a loaner bike!

Wicksie, the East Van boys left some mallets at mine for me to do what I want with. They're too short form me, so thought i might as well donate them to beginners polo...they're not perfect but atleast someone new can use them. You wanna grab sometime soon from NE polo?

Cheers Mat, that's really kind.
I've got more than I've got space for already though tbh.
if you want rid I can keep them in my car park at work in Old St. if you like?
-
• #445
I'll take them. Not for me personally, still as loaner mallets.
-
• #446
I've still got those short ones to be made up for children's mallets if you want also J?

• #447
Yes please.

I'm pretty sure someone has noticed this before but tfl have an interactive map which displays where road works are happening or planned to happen.
It displays what type they are and what the planned work is.
Might be useful in finding pipe. It might even tell you the size of pipe their using...

So, Venn and I want to enter a team into the league, is there anyone looking to play in the league this winter? We are both relative beginners, having both started last summer.
Ideally we want someone who is based east, but we will consider anyone.
So if there are any beginners out there who want to play lots of polo over the next 6 months, please let me know.

And of course don't forget to ask nicely for any offcuts they don't want.
Hey all,
I won't be able to make it tomorrow as it's the legendary Rik 'you've got nuthin' tap out (which means he's leaving :( )
Obviously you don't need me to still do this, but if you need mallets and or balls, then anyone is welcome to come and get them from me today.
Might be an idea to ensure you have numbers first.
Keep the dream alive people.
