Noticed that place too but never got around scouting it, that and GS's tennis court. Have had quite a few look at GS's tennis court, surface looks good, sort out the nets and it should be game on assuming the bloody GS pen pushers dont slap health and safety on ya and ban bikes on court.
LAME! Should do the responsible thing and quit.. Only problem with the court is the tennis nets across it, and no lighting for the winter.. There is one on queens road next to the fire station which has lights and goals, hardly ever in use.. What days you in uni?

Yeah I could come down, be good to see some pics or a report back first though...

I'll go down there on friday pm, I don't know where the court in Queen's Rd is, so Kit will have to join me on that. As for the GS's tennis court, my bigger concern is it might be for their students only, will have a word with the SU in the pm to get the ball rolling at the same time just in case we want it. But like Kit says, if there isn't any light then it'd only be good for the summer which is a long way away...

Less fannying, more polo... I'll GIVE you pain-killers...
^ probably illegal BTW -

Kit and I are legally allowed to use the court!! |(I think) So if and when things go belly up, we don't know any of you! lol I will test the water on Fri.

Where is this place? Is it a fenced off court, usable for polo?
Yeah seems very usable, little drain dip or two but seems good, its a sunken one so walls around, worth a look though. Just past new cross fire station in peckham direction, there is an alley. Head up there and its on your left.
When would be good? Are you at newington on sunday, could go look at it after

I think I see it. If it is the place you are talking about. Just south of Queens Road, west of Waller Road, there is a road called Swallow Close. I am going to check it out now and take some photos, I have an hour and a bit to kill.
Re: some of the posts above, what is GS? Forgive my pignorance.

Another okay place for south daylight solo polo/drills is the basketball court (not the tennis court) in Brunswick Park in Camberwell...

Gold smiths uni?
They need to start a uni polo society!
-
• #3588
I would go back to uni and get myself more in debt just to make that happen. Let's pick a course for me to do.

GS is Goldsmiths, the place where they are slowly sucking all the money out of my pocket and I am sure kit's as well. Just checked the website, the tennis court is for staff and students only... :-(

Does goldsmiths have societies?
When I went to uni we would set up a society (each student pays a £1 which the union matched, 'assocciate members' £5), society books facilities. All above board.

I am sure they do, I think someone on this forum did try to set up some sort of cycling thing at GSa while back, I am not sure. the tennis court is free to use but I doubt there is anyone besides Kit and I are students at GS who play polo (I could be wrong), so would have to look for ways to get your guys on board if you want and if the court is good.

An older colleague at work also mentioned he set up the Horse Polo ass at southampton uni when he was there, keeping horses sounds like much more organisation! It's unfortunate that my girflriend just graduated from Goldsmiths.

Sorry didn't make It clear, associate members can be non students. That's how you get non students onto uni property.

New Cross court is on a bit too much of a slope. I'll upload photos tomorrow or Friday.

Ha, no not unless your Scottish. Don't know why I'm laughing, I studied outside of Scotland and got no support whatsoever but if I was to study in Scotland now I'd get no support because I've already got a degree.
The problem with setting up polo as a society is that iirc because polo isn't a sport you can't set it up as a sport society. This means that generally most universities will give you significantly less support than they would the football or netball teams. This could vary depending on uni though.

Setting up a society is quite easy I think, A couple of friends just did it.. A few forms, ten people, BISH BASH BOSH. I believe associates is also the way with external peeps.. Can check it out next week
