  • yes

  • Hmn just realised there is no chance what so ever that I can come around... Next time maybe^^

  • waaaay behind schedule. still coming

  • Oh ffs. Half way to peckham and then bam:

And all the bike shops are now shut >:(

  • damn that^ sucks. i actually carry a spare bit of chain and a chainbreaker* at all times.

polo was good today, must have been 12 or so people including 4 or 5 i've never played with (nice to meet yous). i didn't get there til 8.30 but i still played 5 or 6 games :-)

*not the Saffer, i couldn't carry him 10 metres

  • ^Thanks to all specially CowHen for his loaner and Joni for the welcome vibe. Fun!

  • As promised, some info.

On Sunday, it's the Bench Micro tournament: http://www.lfgss.com/thread69140.html

It's at Newington, from 11-7ish. Anyone is more than welcome to play, but you need to be registered on the list by Thursday. Otherwise please come along, and watch us play, and meet some other polo players.

On Monday (Bank Holiday) it's the LHBPA annual general meeting, at the Ship Pub, near Newington. We've got the room upstairs booked between 4 and 8, so it will be around that time. Any London polo player is welcome, even beginners, everyone's input is welcome. We'll be making decisions which affect London polo for the next 12 months, and beyond. Oh, and there will be free food.

I imagine there will be games of polo at Newington before the meeting.

  • ..Any London polo player is welcome, even beginners, everyone's input is welcome...

Are you sure, generally it's a members only thing isn't it. Just the impression that I think is sometimes given anyway. I'm probably wrong but I'm sure you have to be a member to vote, which is the fun bit

  • No, firstly any polo player is welcome, anyone who has an interest should be encouraged. Technically you need to be a member to vote, and hopefully anyone turning up will become a member, but Jono has said anyone who turns up can vote.

  • And being a member of the London Hardcourt Bike Polo Association is brilliant because it only costs £5 a year and the association brings us tournaments and equipment amongst other really important things. Definitely worth it and you get to meet all the other lovely poloistas.

There is going to be discussions about what will happen to beginners polo when I leave, so it would be really good to have a voice from beginners there (I can't make it).

Even if you don't go to the meeting, if you can spare £5 then join, you get discounts at shops too.

Another epic night of polo everyone, brilliant. Especially all the new players how are doing so well!

  • Someone left a red mallet behind last night. CowHen has it.

  • Could be a loaner one. Bring it next week matey, cheers.

  • Yeap, joining the lhbpa is a great idea. Not only do you get discount off thing at push and swrve(iirc), push will also let you use there workshop to tune up your bike in the evening after they shut.

If that doesn't swing it, there are sausage rolls at the meetings and go go dancers(may or may not be true).

Also.... The Orwell pub are working out a discount scheme and the lhbpa is working on getting sweet spirit animal membership cards rolled out.

  • Oh yeah, selling point, you get a spirit animal!

Vaidas bikes will give you a discount too (although he'll probably do it anyway).

  • Soo many reasons! All this for just 5 pounds sterling, which goes towards putting on fantastic events like the London open and also supporting bike polo growth in London.

  • Wow! this association sounds amazing. ;)

I heard you can join here: http://www.lhbpa.org/join/

  • I joined and now I my hair is five times more shiny. #fact

I joined and then a hot chick walked past a bloke in a 3 wolf t-shirt to give me her number.

  • If anyone who doesn't have a polo bike yet is going to be in Cambridge soon:

...that's my polo bike there, but this one is older. 26" wheels, horizontal dropouts. Actually looks like he's got bars and wheels for free too.

  • Hey beginners, come to Newington today for some polo, then we've got the LHBPA AGM from 4pm at The Ship pub, just near the court.

  • I'm hoping to get across for the AGM, less likely for pre-agam polo. I'm assuming its the Ship near the A3?

  • (also other beginners come so I don't look like I've wandered into the wrong part of the bar)

  • I'm working today :(
