  • Anyone in here looking for a third team player for the Open?
I will be back up on the polo bike towards the end of this week, still need to do a bit more stretching in the gym but will be ready to go soon. Would really like to play in the tournament.

  • Tuesday 19 July:

    1. OCD-konijn
    2. Wicksie
    3. Polo perv
    4. Aruncik
    5. John H
    6. Paul
  • Tibs, y u no on the list?
I'm not sure if the loaner is coming, Flip usually just turns up with it. Still come though, I'm sure people will loan bikes out.
I'm surprised no one took that striped socks up on his / her offer of a free bike the other day.

I might be there early soloing if anyone wants to join?

  • Hey mate, what time you gonna be there? Was gonna go for a little ride before but if you are gonna be there soon then I wanna come and sort my stupid head out.

  • It was nice meeting you all, had a great evening, indeed. Wicksie, thanks for lending me the pads and mallet, and also cheers for all those tips from everyone. I will erm... eventually be able to hit the ball...

  • From Joe:

Thanks for letting me join you guys last night... I reckon the newer players could do with a bit more help, maybe play the occasional game where you limit each player to three touches before they have to pass to curb the sandbagging-ball-hogs... ;]
And when you're not on court playing you should be practising a bit of one-on-one down the side...
Good to see so many new people playing (and a few old sandbaggers)... x

Usually there is a bit more practising down the sides, I blame Caroline's awesome cakes.

Beginners has got a lot more advanced of late and I would say we're in a transition stage of people moving up to 'non-casual' polo.
It's a natural progression that people will move up as new people come in and it's good to see some of the current 'noobs' show up to tourneys and go to North / South polo.

I think this will change organically so personally not too keen on enforcing rules / drills in throw-ins.
I've said before if anyone wants to come early than we can do some drills / solo polo before throw in's.

It's a bit different at the moment as there are a lot of people coming who aren't beginners at all, which is totally fine but they should be mindful that this is a beginners session and not ball hog, play hard against then.

But yes, less cake and beer, more solo polo in the corner when you're not playing.

It's always good to have guest appearances, good to play with you TS.

  • I think it's good that the vets come and am actually grateful they do. Otherwise people wouldn't progress if we just played amongst ourselves.

  • Yep, fannied about the first few games getting used to freewheel then really had to up my play to keep up with the more experienced players! Thanks Wicksie as usual for being awesome and TS for being a good team-mate and navigational tool :) Nice to meet everyone else.

  • TS for being a tool :) Nice to meet everyone else.

I hope that I play beginners in the right spirit, but please let me know if not.

Anyway, thanks for another great evening last night, good games, and good to see TS down there.

Oh, and thanks to Caroline for the cake, I thought it was great (even if it didn't turn out like you wanted).

  • Get Venn as a third...

  • Nice team ^

  • Me too, wanna make a team?

Yep, definitely. Lets do it. I'll register a team for us tonight. Hope its not too late.

  • Nice work. Ask Jono nicely and I'm sure he'll let you in.

The Rusty Rims would like to practice tonight in Peckham. Are there any 3 people who want to play against us?

  • Right so, its me, Irishane, and Venn Diagram.

Cheesy Oirish team name suggestions welcome, I'll register it later on when I am at my home PC.

  • Nice work Kev.

ANYONE want to play tonight? I think Caroline can so 2 more to make a team?

  • Too obvious?

  • Nice work Kev.

ANYONE want to play tonight? I think Caroline can so 2 more to make a team?

I probably could, not too late though, I still need to pack.

Depends whether you want a challenge or not I guess, but I'm free for polo fun times.

  • Cool, what's not too late? I think Jimmy can get in for 8.30pm so could swap over if we get one more?

    Nice one John.

  • Not too late, as in I'd like to be heading home by 10:30ish.

What time are you thinking of playing? I can be there for 7ish as usual

  • Thinking of 7ish, yep. Assuming Caroline can still make it, we still need one more!

  • Ah feckit, Dean's assumed it's not on and has made plans.
    Cancel that.
I'll be down for solo polo anyway if anyone's interested.

    Sorry John.

  • No worries. See you in a few weeks.
