  • Bugger missed that ^. Probably for the best.

I know I keep saying it, but that was so good, really enjoyed it. I loved seeing the thoughtful passing play and I think having 2 on one team encourages that.
Really well played everyone. Great night.

  • That was good.. looking foreward to next week.

  • Really well played everyone. Great night.

Good scoring from Arunas and Paul too, some tidy shots when the goal was only 1ft wide.

  • Cheap frameset with awesome potential.
26" wheels are the polo future!

  • I'm in for tuesday, new cranks and knee certified for spinning!

  • Good lad, be good to have you back!

  • hmm..work, work, and no polo this week.. Hope you guys have a good one.
    Does anyone have a hacksaw?
They refused to shorten my handlebars at the bikeshop..

  • Does anyone have a 120mm 700c wheel with a 20t or 21t freewheel on it that I can please try tomorrow? Need to figure out if dropouts are long enough to let me run road and polo gears on different sides of the hub

  • Margs has.
With 22t you should be able to fit 17t.
I had 22t for polo and 17t for road and the tyre was about 1mm away from the seat tube.

Pretty sure it was 17t and not 16t :-s

  • I'm hoping that with a 23c tyre I can get away with a 20t and a 14t. Would save buying a hub wheel and a new commuting frame :fingerscrossed:

  • I don't think the dropouts are long enough medear. Unless you used 2 chains? Been done before.

  • Is she riding a frame you've tried wicks? Felix got 10 teeth difference out of his create (iirc), so it is possible.

But 20 to 14 seems a lot, so I do agree, it's unlikely.

What's your chainring? Maybe make it smaller and you'll need fewer teeth difference for the same effect, or have a double chainring (with bashgaurd) and if you go up the same number of teeth on the chainring as you go down on the freewheel, you have no net difference.

  • Yeah I've got Joni's old polo bike. I probably need to do some more maths, but at the moment I've got a 44t ring on there, so if I got 20t and 14t freewheels I could run 45.9GI and 65.GI, which would be perfect. I might have to compromise on the polo gearing though, really need it to be a bike I can sensibly ride to work daily.

Or I do have a 34t ring too, could maybe get away with 34x14 (65.6GI) and 34x19 (48.3GI)?

  • Trust me C. I've been through this. In fact Louis and I have been through this somewhere are worked out I could only go 4 (5 if lucky) sizes up/down. The Create was a freak.

You can't get 14t freewheels to fit flip flops, so it would have to be a fixed sproket. I have a spare for £3 I think.

Maybe "34t ring too, could maybe get away with 34x14 (65.6GI) and 34x19 (48.3GI)" would work best.
    cough geared hub cough.

  • :D I know. Slack day at work, I've literally got nothing better to do than endlessly ponder my gearing. I'll probably get the hub geared wheel, you're right.

  • Buy my sproket and try the last idea first maybe, it's cheaper.
It is an important decision, not to be taken lightly.

  • I don't understand your GI calculations? Do you have small wheels? 44x14 isn't 65 GI unless you've got very small wheels?!

Also how can 44x14 and 34x14 both be 65gi?!

If you can get something smaller than 34 (I've got 26, but 28/30 would be good too) then you'd probably be able to manage 45-65 GI without problem, or even something like 34x13 and 28x17 for something more like 40-70gi.

  • This is relevant to my interests.

I'll try to make it, but I'll be late. Got to visit a friend in hospital.

  • 3.5 then? I'm sure CowHen will be along any minute, and Citygent said he's coming the other day, so we should have numbers...

Does anyone have 2 spare spokes and nipples by any chance?

  • spoke length? Not that I'll be able to offer you any until Sunday
