Strikes me that pretty much any useful to do with bikes got dealt with by mid 2008, and is filed under UTFS.
The forum is now littered with any old crap - football, cooking, East European Women's Hopscotch Leagues - whatever.
And that's fine if that's what you all want. But this will soon be dead as a useful bike forum, if it isn't already.
Having said that, I only ever bother to read the threads where the mob gang-bangs some dopey noob who pops his head over the parapet. Roll on!

rep was lame will. the fact that much of the same behaviour exists now as it did back then just shows what a bunch of wankers people can be on here. but at least the phrase "oh no! i can't rep -----, i've already repped him so very much!!! can someone please rep ----- for me?" has pretty much disappeared. god it felt like everyone was posting with their tongues up each others arses. not dignified.

Well, if that is the only good thing that has come from getting rid of rep... and I don't even agree that it is since you can still 'comm' people and you still get people saying they have to spread it around before they can give it again. And I still think it is a handy way of giving a quick compliment to people. The arse licking that you describe, in as much as I agree that it ever existed, is still there. One person's licked arse is another person's pat on the back. The point is getting rid of rep was, according to many of its detractors, going to make this forum a generally nicer place and clearly that has not happened. None of the people who advanced that argument have ever conceded that they were wrong. Rep is not, and never was, the problem.
There are two things I think this forum does really badly. The first, hilariously, is talking about bikes. The second is self-criticism.
But anyway It is a beautiful day so I am going to ride my bike. Not really.
