  • Of course... the commute... that makes more sense! Fuck riding a bmx to work!

  • Bollocks. I love riding my BMX to work.

And before you ask it's 9 miles.

  • Bmx's are impractical to commute on whereas riding a track/fixed bike isn't. Now they have built frames pretty much as strong as bmx's but yet you can still commute on them, win. Half the stuff the big riders are doing these days may not look as clean and smooth as it would look on a bmx, but it is seriously hard, it amazes me when i watch some of the latest edits and see whats happening in the fixed freestyle world. Like it or not, it's happening and it's only gonna get bigger.

show me an impressive clip. just curious.

  • Christ on a bike did the 23 not do any searching, this question/non question is regurgitated time after time in various forms and gets the same response. Who cares what bike you do what trick on, and whether it can be done better or look cooler on a different bike. People ride and pull tricks on whatever they want and who are you to judge?sure you can and we all do, but we don't then come on here looking for justification/confirmation/affirmation that our point of view is accepted by our cycling brethren.
Next time one of these questions pops into your head just step away from the keyboard, seriously, just step away.
We ride bikes, petty factionalism and tribal territorial squabbles just cheapen us.
    Hate the hate baby!

  • All I've done since opening this thread is yawn.

  • clearly you didn't watch the videos i posted.

  • Your comment was probably the most interesting part.

  • All I've done since opening this thread is yawn.

clearly you didn't watch the videos i posted.

Lol, obviously not. The riding in that second one completely owns! Sooo much control.

  • I didn't watch either of them. I'll get round to it.

  • I'll get round to it.

    Pretty much my motto.

  • Fail.

  • Max step away from the keyboard, ubiquitousness on the forum isn't something to be aspired to. Go ride bike, drink beer.

  • But beer and bikes is all my life consists of, Brother Corn. I know no better.

  • Max

how was the day at the track?

  • Didn't go mate, something important came up.

  • The problem with Freestyle is that it looks shit, and always will, when its people just trying to replicate BMX/MTB tricks - however when it actually takes advantage of the speed, and uniqueness of the fixed drive train, then its pretty cool.

This dude is doing it right, and hes not even a fixed gear rider most of the time

  • I think that's a great video... Speed is definitely the key there

  • Didn't go mate, something important came up.

Something more important than riding track? So did you get a job or lose your virginity?

  • i grew up playing on bmxs and 24" jump bikes, great fun! but i kinda got bored of them, after barspins and tailwhips you really hit a wall and it gets boring. fixed gear was just something new and different, i then enjoyed it more, i like the challenge of the fixed wheel and the 700c

different strokes for differenty folks tbh

impressed, but... and this is going to sound ridiculous... im only impressed because he's the first fixed gear rider i've seen that can actually ride a bike. what he's actually doing isn't much at all. But he has control and knows how to shift his weight. clearly has a background beyond pinning around town on his trick bike.

that first clip is insane. it's a delayed front flip half way into a 360 watch it closely..

    Shut up you mincer.

Totally agree - hes a trials rider most of the time. Most fixed gear freestyle looks way to forced, the reason i like that vid is the flow he has to his riding.

  • case in point. fixed trick riding is so ludicrous that even a professional trials rider can only bounce around on some boxes and cruise shitty wall rides. At least he knows how to ride a bike to begin with though... because what really gets me is this attitude in trick riding: "cant ride a bike? In your twenties and want to start technical riding now? Join us! We're progressing!" It's very very similar to triathaletes. "suck at riding a road bike? Don't even own one yet?? get a tri bike and some running shoes! We run and swim *and *we steer the bike with our elbows!!"

  • Everyone who has ever done any sort of "extreme sport" (skaeboarding, blading ect) knows that bmxing is just gay and always will be.

what's the hardest part about being a roller blader?
