Have spoken with Matt
he is surprisingly chipper and has already said he wants to do it again (the ride not the crash) next year
everyone was amazing in the situation
reconstructive surgery is scheduled and his nose is being reattached today
on a different note
really wish to say thanks to Simon mottram
he put up with my heckles and abuse each time he tried to speak in public, he treated satans spawn to free hats and has offered to help replace matts damaged clothing
I agree. Simon was smashing to my family - even though my tired little lad didn't want to wear an exclusive Rapha cap! He'll learn the ways of the fore soon enough...
The offer to replace Matt's clobber is a great gesture. It's one of the first things I noticed:
"Fuck! His nose is hanging off!"
"His face is like a butcher's dustbin!"
OH NO!! HE"S SCUFFED HIS RAPHA SHORTS!!!!!!"

Not only Friday but also at 8am Sunday.. I pissed myself when Simon mentioned that your Sidi shoes didn't really match the rest of your outfit.. Your reply..
"Well fucking make some Simon"

You'll be relieved that the camera crew decided not to film the ripped Rapha...
Great riding with you tweed chaps!
-
• #1056
nope, cap still stranded
Where? I'd like something nice, but free.
Oh, and best wishes for Matt.

We rode past a Rapha cap on the roadside. Somewhere between London and Brighton.. good luck.

I'm a hardened bargain hunter. It doesn't put me off.

usme instead... Proper..You totally hogged the shot with your little solo effort. Too much gap to bridge by myself.

Lovely ride reports. Some great stories. Wish I could have ridden this somehow!
So sorry to hear about Matt's crash. All best wishes!
Well done to all who rode. One of the best ideas for a ride this year, no doubt.
I'm really hoping to do the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run again this autumn, which the Tweed contingent might be interested in turning out in force for ...

I had a brilliant chance in the cameraman limelight, looking suitably mean and moody on the front of our bunch - only to be overtaken by one of the fucking brompton boys in a flappy t-shirt and short.
It's all on film.
I will be burying my bike in the garden this afternoon. -

Brilliant!

did other teams notice that you felt you had to cycle faster when the cameras were on you?
we fucking motored along until out of shot and then slowed significantly
i am sure that is what the pro tour do too!
i tend to smile/lazy grin when on the bike, i struggled to achieve the rapha trademarked 1000 yard stare when being filmed

Too much gap to bridge by myself...
Need I say anything else?

that the gap was constant and you were drafting a motorbike? totally let down by the other guys on that one, nothing to do with my legs at all. Still, when you inevitably make the reel I'll be a little black dot in the edge of shot, and that's enough for me.
now that really does bring back a few things..
