Tom, Mike and I were all going for a pee.
Good team work guys ... keeping it real tight!
I thought the same mike - I got up to a good speed in laps 1 and 2, then relaxed a bit in 3 and 4. However, I had a cough all last night because of that ride so I must have done something!
Worth bearing in mind there's a pursuit in the SE track champs on 10 July.

fair bit colder and some wind, would have knocked everyone's times off from the rplza open?
plus the perception on speed people seem to get in the evening/at night...
also, because most of you have been up since early and done a full day's work, you are tired and feel as if you are putting more effort in, compared to getting up late, swanning down to the track and enjoying an easy afternoon of racing

Also, our team coach, who said he'd help us ride to schedules, was nowhere to be seen. ;-)

also been wondering about bike computers - a fair number of the guys have them but not sure it's legal?

hands up
I was at the track all day (with Mr C. Evans and Mr J. Staff) and didn't fancy staying on through the evening as I had some work to do.
Besides, none of you knew what time you wanted to work to, now you all have benchmarks we can work for that in the SE champs!

I was wondering about that too.

though it may be a 4km IP, at a guess
but maybe just maintain your 2.7km speed for 4km ...?!

Saturday 10th of July. As Tom pointed out above. Doh.

In a way, Id imagine 4k being easier. It takes a while to get into a rhythm.
Actually, Im talking shit. Itd be a nightmare.

I have real problems sleeping after the Wednesday night league. I cannot get my heartrate to go down and I have a very restless night with all the adrenalin still pumping round my body. I also wake up at around 2.30 - 3.00 with a ravenous hunger. Even though by the time I usually eat it is around 11ish.
Does anyone else experience this or have any ideas to combat it. I have tried various combinations of no toxins and toxins to help this but nothing really seems to work. Any ideas as I am usually zombified most Thursdays -

I suffered from it last year, but am having less problems this year. I try and eat a decent sized meal somewhere between 4-5 in the afternoon, which means I can just have a snack when I get home from racing rather than a big meal.
I also have a quiet half hour before going to bed now, i.e. no TV or internet, just sat in a quiet, dark room (feeding a baby is optional) and that helps a lot.

Young man's game innit JC?

No problem sleeping for me - usually. I'm sick as a dog at the moment.

Thanks for the advice. I did think that having a very large meal just before going to bed was not helping the situation either. I will try eating less and the chilling out approach. See how I get on

Coffee all day, toast and banana at 5pm. Racing. Home for 10pm, 2 or 3 strong ales, nuts, salty corn snacks and cheese on toast. Watch Black Books/Family Guy. Pass out.

I need to stop torturing myself reading what's been going on. I'm bored, and shuffling around getting fat isn't cheering me up. I've never been injured before and I think it's showing!
Sorry, I should have said that someone could have used my pursuit bars, they're sitting there begging for some action. Help yourselves next time.

You'll be back on your bike in a few weeks. You can plan your recovery programme to the theme tune of Rocky, Eye of the Tiger, etc.
-
• #371
Do you an idea of when you'll be back and racing, stelle?
-
• #372
The plan was to get a gap though. We were sat behind 3 sprinters and assumed, wrongly, that they'd look to others to chase.
At least Mike podiumed so we can claim it was a tactic to ensure Rollapaluza success.
Rollapaluza mafia ensure the judges "got the right result".

Also, would anyone like to claim to be 5th in the Warm up race? I was given number 16 - which was Connor - who didn't race.
1st S5 Stuart Hourigan
2nd Sx52 Keith Coffey
3rd S68 Neil Irons
4th S11 James Solly5th S16? ?
6th S12 Chris Cole
Also, I haven't got any results for the A 3 lap dash. Any ideas?

I think Miles won it, Mike was third so he should know who beat him.
-
• #375
Yes Ian Cooke I think. Young blonde guy? Yes I was third and Miles won it
Well it was my first ever IP and I was relatively happy with my 3:48
I wanted to avoid going off too hard and blowing up, but I htink I ended going off too slow. I mean the pace through laps 3-5 were a little too relaxed. I know this because I really hammered it round the final lap and clawed back a good 2 or so seconds.
I think, realistically I could have knocked a second off laps 2 - 5 giving me a 3:44. But it was actually very enjoyable and I now have something to aim at for next time.
Also the track day was very hot and with no wind which is why everyone was probably quicker then, no?
