Peggy's been limping for a couple of weeks. No response to anti inflammatories and after further investigation has something called medial compartment disease. Will need both front legs operating on and up to 6 weeks in recovery. (Not to mention around £8k of vets fees).
Poor thing. Has already had 2 weeks without being allowed off the lead - going to be a long summer for an 18 month old terrier. If she didn't hate water could at least do some swimming for physio.

That sounds grim, Ru, hope she's OK...
Me out with Teddy today, he actually took me for a walk...

Sorry to hear that, Ru. That rough for a young dog.
Have you got insurance? I've just been renewing mine and it seems to get more complicated every year - lifetime cover, time limit per condition, £ limit per condition, £ limit per year, pre-existing conditions... and then, when he gets to 6, not many policies will take him on a new policy. My dog insurance is more than my car insurance.

Teddy looks less than impressed...

His owner doesn't really walk him, doesn't have a garden with grass in it either which is a bit strange cuz he's a multi-millionaire... Teddy had a great day, long walk along the beach, popped in to work where they were cooking sausages up for lunch (he got two and a half BIG sausages), he met all the clients and got loads of cuddles off them, treated like a king he was... He's awesome, I love him... 😍

Does anyone want to do a few days dog sitting for me in late August? You get a house with a small garden in Brixton, food, drink and a hound. PM me if you're interested and want more details. Happy to pay reasonable costs...

dog owners help me out, had a heated discussion with a work mate (says he is ex dog trainer) about the etiquette when you see a dog, I always ask the owner if it's ok to say hello pet the dog as you don't know if the dog wants contact or the owner, he was the oposiste saying he knows best he knows dogs blah blah blah but as a trainer I thought he should be even more respectful.
I don't own dogs never have is there an etiquette for saying hello to dogs ? -
• #696
Sounds like a dick. Generally, a dog will decide who it wants to say hello to and it's pretty obvious, but you don't have a right to play with someone's dog anymore than you do their kid.
-

As a rule of thumb, if a dog engages with me i'll say hello. If I am engaging with the dog i'll ask if its ok.

How would your colleague feel about a random stranger patting them on the back, rubbing their tummy or ruffling their hair? explain that you know best, his hair needed adjustment and you have rubbed peoples stomachs before.
-
• #699
exactly but he didn't see it though, as I don't have much experience with dogs he juat kept saying you've never owned or trained dogs so I wouldn't know

But you have had fucking stupid colleagues and they all love having their hair ruffled.
Just saw this. Cheers. I'm in glasgow otherwise would have taken you up on it.
