Rudy is in the vets for the day today having an ultrasound and bloodtests, as the vet noticed he had a heart murmur when he went in for his shots/check up last week.
I'm really hoping it's nothing serious.

Vet seems to think our lurcher Rosa could be a bit younger than we thought... maybe 6. Because her cataracts are fairly slight! Yikes.
She's wagging really well now, and walks have just been great after early snappiness with other dogs, esp in Oxleas Wood near us (proper woods! In London! Who knew?!).
We're walking about 8mi daily! Dogs are so good for you.

aw cuddles rudy. Hope for the best :)
Hazel is exhibiting cat-like properties, LOVES being up high and climbing & sitting on my head. Really enjoys the views from up the stairs looking down so decided to put her up on the wardrobe. Loved it.

My folks' two mini Schnauzers spend an inordinate amount of time perched on the edge of a sofa by a window on the second floor that gives them a view out over the front driveway, down over a golf course to the Hayle estuary and the sea. They're like kings surveying their desmesnes. They love it, they're endlessly fascinated at watching the world go by and it gives them plenty of opportunity to bark at anyone who thinks about coming up the drive...

Hazel and Sochi
Minding my friends 2 yr old cockapoo while she's skiing. Sochi is a very nice, well behaved dog normally.
But has separation anxiety, with me! When I go upstairs, ie. to the loo even, she whines and at night, when I've gone up to bed, she's whiny and barks - just single barks. Woof....Woof.....Woof.Any tips? Been ignoring it, is that the way?
Hazel is fine with me leaving her at night, she's used to it. -

Surely if you call a dog Sochi, you've got to take it skiing with you?
The dog will be in your bed before too long, just give in to it.

Yeah she was born during winter olympics so hence name.
Dogs in bed. Nah! -

We got a new puppy over the weekend. He had been in a crate before so no issues with his new sleeping arrangements, although when I tried to go to bed we had a lot of crying.
My approach was as follows:
- Quietly sit next to crate until Loki was settled.
- Stand up, walk away a few paces, and then immediately come back
- Wait a while, stand up walk further away and then come back
- Wait, then walk to the kitchen door, go through out of sight, come straight back
- Next time, waited 15 seconds before coming back
- Gradually extended the period until I was out for about 15 minutes
- Went to bed.
My thinking was to come back before he cries out, but gradually extend so he understands that I will come back. It seemed to work.
Good luck with Sochi.
- Quietly sit next to crate until Loki was settled.

Your patience is way better than mine.
First night we had Hazel we just left her to cry it out...I'll try incremental but not sure how it would fly with this dog coz i cant even go to the kitchen without a shadow. Open plan so she can see me...

@mands I knowwhat you mean about going to the kitchen with a shadow ... ours is verry 'attentive' when food is around.
In other news she is now internet faymous.

We prefer 'fraggle'...

She's certainly a bit unusual. Actually the proper name for this kind of hybrid is a Lurcher. Bred from a cross of (usually) a sight hound and some kind of terrier or other hunting dog. I think. I found out Lurcher stems from an Irish word that means something like thief.
