Oh dear! Was he trapped in there? Hope he's not traumatised in any way but had a good time and settles in again well back home.

I don't know if he was trapped there. Anna said he was under a bush. I guess we'll never know.

How far away is the school from where you live Bill? Maybe he was just off on a little holiday. Or sometimes when cats are unwell or in pain, they take themselves off somewhere to convalesce. A very similar thing happened with my old cat

The school is less than 500 metres from us.
He's young, very healthy (raw diet) and very fit. I have a feeling he got spooked, ran off and then got lost and couldn't find his way home.

More often than not Bill, cat's roam to find a mate... if you've had him neutered then this doesn't apply. But he may have been going through his "run wild and sow seed" phase?
Awesome news nevertheless.

Yeah, he's back home. Wandering around the flat, purring, meowing at things, eating up sardines. Awesomeness.

Brilliant news Bill. Really chuffed for you and so pleased this thread has had a happy ending.

Thanks so much for helping out with a cat carrier - really appreciated.
A little jealous that you got to see him before me, though!

I'd say "any time," but I don't think that's the ideal turn of phrase in this situation.

Ha! If it makes you feel better, I was really mean to him, nor did I let him anywhere near my beard.

Thanks to everyone for your kind words. I guess the moral is that posters do work!
One other thing worth mentioning - Anna spoke to some volunteer at C London RSPCA yesterday (not the National - who were really great) who said that Oscar was more than likely stolen. She went on to say that if we get another cat, we would be better off getting an ordinary looking moggy. She also suggested that they, C London RSPCA, would not rehome a silver tabby in Hackney as it was such a rough area.
I have to say that, whilst Hackney's not perfect, we have had so many calls from people who thought they had seen Oscar, and so many people on the street said they knew about Oscar, and were looking out for him.
So: Hackney residents 1 - snobby busy-body at C London RSPCA nil. (Again, the national help-line person was really helpful and really encouraging - it was just this harpy from C London RSPCA)
great news, erm, it is half term, so Horatio should be ok.
