  • yes it is the best value track frame about RPM but what is it like on the street?

lets be honest that's what the majority of people on this forum are interested in.

But he asked about it Vs a dolan track champ. Both pure track frames.

  • I don't mean it as picking a bone, he didn't ask about riding it on the track, and the normal assumption for here should probably be about riding them on the street!

and i'm interested in what they would be like on the street.

  • Overkill? I mean, since I have secure locking at both ends of a commute I could ride one but if you're locking it up regularly I wouldn't bother. Ride-wise, I use a P-X Stealth TT bike on the road and it's fine. Not the most plush ride but I am running 20mm tyres at 120psi+

Throwing a lock round a carbon track frame? hilarious. Some people need picking up by the neck and shaking.

I've just got a carbon bike and I'm scared it will explode if I even look at it the wrong way.

    Stolen

Much the same as riding it at round the car park at Herne Hill , I assume. Not very nice.

Ed has a point though.. some people will ride these on street.
Personally I think they're fucking ugly but they do the job (track and tt).
    Carbon rules. :)

It depends doesn't it, road training with one or commuting like a noddy and chaining it to lamp posts outside pubs like some wannabe courier?

    Like, whatever. Man.

  • Sorry guys, I was mainly thinking about road usage, considering that they make a TT version mainly the same I'm guessing it wont just explode/implode when on the road!but the looks issue is more of a matter of opinion! Here's one obviously for road usage with double brick-o-flex's, how nice!

  • in your face RPM! ;)

  • anti

  • sure it would be fine but i seriously doubt you'd notice much different in you race to work/school between that and a specialised langster.

  • in your face RPM!

It's "obviously" for road use. Big gear, deep drops with track grips, no brakes, perfect.

Surely the TT version is a better choice for road?

  • Well anti is what I enjoy looking at most on this forum! I may not notice the feel but "alllz tha pplz on teh pvmentz willz initz?" but then again obviously I would due to the difference in tubing which unfortunately also makes a thin steel frame feel much faster, lighter and elegant which is an awesome shame!

  • You don't usualy have knogs on the track though.

  • maybe its a brake light for the track, like formula one cars so when pressures is no longer being applied to the cranks in a forward direction it goes out?

  • I think you is right.

  • You don't usualy have knogs on the track though.

Er..they use rear lights all the time at the outdoor US tracks for evening racing and training.

  • Prob more sensible riding a Planet X on the road than some NJS Panasonic/Nag kerin frame.

  • AND F1 cars don't have brake lights, but they do have flashing rear ones in low lighting/raining conditions!

  • i've saw 2 days ago one guy at the london bridge, riding the planet x track

  • I've never seen the track version in the flesh, spose that's a bad sign?

  • I have seen a few riden on the road, when i was down in Chichester there were 2 guys riding them set up as fixed TT training bikes, and they were hammering them around the south coast.

  • I don't know if I should open a new thread about this, as I've searched lfgss and found noting on it, but is there a way of running a brake lever on the drop without bar tape, this is because I'm planning on running a front brake with track grips on drop bars, but I'm fed up of witching between the top and bottom of the bar to reach my dirt harry's AND the idea of having to stay in a non aero position on a cut away seat tube, with a hed 3 and a disc wheel seems silly!
    Thanks Jack
