the saddle goes very very high if needed and 58 top tube should be fine for someone your size, i'm 6'1" with 36" inside leg, my 58 if anything feels a little long for me at the mo.
-

33!? you sure that's not just your trouser measurement?
-
• #4
I wish I could ride one of these frames.
I'm 6'5" with a 39" inside leg. No fcking chance! :)
Seat tube I need a 64cm at the least. Top tube needs to be 59-61cm.

I reckon it'll be fine, you were only a touch too long on the torso on that 56 (if i'm thinking of the right person) although it was much too short on the leg.
You want the top tube to be fairly short anyhow. And you can play around with stem lengths, and different bars to get the fit right too. -

you'd be ok (max) if you were using it as a tt bike, generally need shorter for the tuck position and the seatpost is huuuge - i have about 4inch's extra to play with at this height
sounds fine to me for you robyn

tilover - what's the distance in cm from the centre of your BB to the saddle rails?
What size is yours? If I've already asked you... I forgot :)
-
• #8
its 760 or 765mm when i measured it earlier but there's easily another 100-150mm on the post,
it's a 58cm frame. -
• #9
Ha, mine's 835mm on my 66cm Cannondale :)
Do you know what the biggest PX track frame is?
I imagine there's more room in the post for adjustment but how high you have yours in relation to the frame is about as high as I'd want to go. I'd prefer less post out.

looks like Swanage??
-

58 is the biggest, but i reckon the post goes up to 850 (which would look rather silly)
-
• #13
Ahh yeah, I couldn't ride a 58cm! It would look like a fcking BMX
-
• #14
hehe - it would, i rode a 62cm ST 56TT before this, it feels like i tower above it but its longer than i'm used to which is wierd

sadly no, hence a big reward...maybe someone at the London 'markets' could keep an eye out as i'm in middle of a dissertation and its driving me barmy!! ;;--((. I am 5ft 10 and the medium was perfect with a good few inches to spare for those a bit taller....

The BB to saddle rail max on a 58cm is 880mm, 860mm on the 56cm, 840mm on the 54cm, so leg length wise you could fit a small Max.
Max you would fit a large one fine with a long(ish) stem.
Robyn, if its for the track, you would need the 56cm medium, the 58cm large will be tall long in the seat tube.
Adman, on here, one of their team riders, is probably about 6ft 3" and riders the 56cm. They are designed to have a lot of seat post showing.
The minimum inset is 20cm, any less and it won't clamp properly. -

Just did a few measurements.
I'd ride a 63cm PX* on the track. A 61cm would be too little but rideable.
I don't think they even do 63cm frames, but that's the biggest size some people make.

Thanks for all the replies guys.
It looks like I'm going for a Planet X then.

I'm also thinking about getting a planet x frame and i was wondering how many people use them on both road and track. I'm looking to get into riding a bit of track but with hh being the closest track to me and its the complete other side of london to me (i'm in hillingdon) and i don't drive, so i don't think i'll make the trip that often. For that reason i want something that is appropriate for the track (both indoor & outdoor, if there's a difference in regs.) but also not unpractical for the road. I like the planet x and it won't blow the budget...

I'm also about to buy the planet X track bike and I was wondering what people thought f it, is it a good ride and good value for money or is it cheap and nasty? It seems the Dolan Track Champ is about the same price which may have a better paint job but specification and looks wise I think the Planet X is better.
Thanks, Jack -

PX is the best value track frame for around £500 bar none
-
• #24
yes it is the best value track frame about RPM but what is it like on the street?
lets be honest that's what the majority of people on this forum are interested in.
thats why trackies is a sub forum not a main forum innit.

Overkill? I mean, since I have secure locking at both ends of a commute I could ride one but if you're locking it up regularly I wouldn't bother. Ride-wise, I use a P-X Stealth TT bike on the road and it's fine. Not the most plush ride but I am running 20mm tyres at 120psi+
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting a planet X track frame, but as far as I'm aware they only go up to a 58?
I'm 6'3 and a smidge with an inside leg of 33ish inches
Is it a no go or are there ways around these things like seat height/stem length.
Cheers, Robyn
