• wuhoo for 27th x

  • Girls, we wont be running a session this Sunday as I can not find coach to cover. Next session is going to be SAT 26 NOV (I have just found out its booked out for Sunday). http://www.facebook.com/events/175247362568871/

I have confirmed with venue and coaches the below which will go ahead unless it rains

    Sat 26 Nov (2-4pm)
    Sun 4 Dec (2-4pm)
    Sun 11 Dec (2-4pm)
    Xmas break

I am really sorry for all the chopping and changing and hope to see you there.

Also I would like some of your thoughts on women's track racing. For those of you who dont race have you considered it? What can we do to get you racing?

    Thanks

  • Bummer re 27th. Not sure about 26th as yet but in my diary for 4th.

  • Can't do 26th as I'm already doing the Tweed Run,weekend of the 4th I'm in Brighton...hmmm...it's sadly looks like I can only do the 11th

  • Oh bummer, I forgot about the tweed run.
Again, I am really sorry for all the chopping and changing.

    1. Haven't yet found time to get down there but have considered it
    2. Things that put me off a bit include raw terror, being fairly porky and lazy, and not really knowing what to expect - not sure what you guys could really do about that, tbh

That said I will hopefully be there for the 26th if it's still running!

Cool. should be able to make them all!

Just come down and see what its all about, if you are terrified you dont have to ride x

Am wavering over the Tweed Run but can all of those dates are in my diary.

As for track racing have never really given it much thought as tbh I've only ever watched track cycling and thought how bloody amazing it is but never thought I'd be able to manage it myself! So if you wanted to get me track racing, I don't think I'd need much encouragement other than needing to get faster and fitter! I have a sad feeling I'd be in some sort of veterans class though!

What would help was if you could recommend stuff people could do off the track to improve fitness...and particular type of exercise or diet etc etc, especially for beginners.

I'm fairly porky and lazy and also didn't really know what to expect and was more than a little apprehensive but I had an AWESOME time at the one session I've done so far and am really looking forward to spring to getting into it seriously/regularly.

As for what to expect, well, I guess expect a few laps of warming up to get used to the track and track bikes and then the coaches take you through various exercises and drills (not sure if that's the right term) about how to move up and down from the lead of the team to the back, various racing styles, how to ride in a group and sit on someone's wheel - a good all round intro to track cycling in a really friendly, supportive atmosphere but with just enough pressure to push yourself on and managae a bit more than you thought you were capable of. That was my experience at any rate.

I'm also guessing it's a pretty good workout so an ace way to keep in shape too!

  • Hoping to make this Sunday's session - but will be post racing and Xmas partying the day before, so expect to be slooooow.

Anyone else planning to head along? Will be my first time on track - I hope / take it there's a bit of induction to begin with.

  • I missed the last one through being ill, so hope to make this week's one. Have joined the event on FB!

  • There is an induction for those that have never ridden track. I'll be there, weather dependent.

Looks like rain on and off all this weekend so fingers crossed it isn't raining and/or track can dry off in time!

  • Hey girls, last track session before Xmas is this Sunday (1.30-4.00pm), I cant be there as away but hope some of you can make it. As always weather permitting, if there is any damp on the ground it is likely to be cancelled to make sure you keep an eye out on the Team Mule Bar Girl Facebook page. I would recommend liking us and then you will see any updates we post.

Also, Anna G (owner of AnaNichoola) is having a party on Tues 20 Dec @ LMNH to celebrate release of her latest film and general get together so it would be great to see you there for a beer or 3. Free drinks provided by Nuun.

  • Nice piece in CW this week. Well done Wiesa, Rebecca and Anna.

  • Hello all,

I am planning on being back on the track in 2012. Any ideas when ladies sessions are likely to start up again?

    Ta

    Jenny

  • Good question, Jenny; I hope to heat up my cold feet this year.

  • Me too, looking forward to giving it another try after my less than idea start...

  • It will be weather dependent but possibly from next Sunday.

Through Jan and Feb unless it's unusually sunny the track will probably be too moist to ride on so plan your lives accordingly. Keep an eye on the FB page for TeamMuleBarGirl for the most up-to-date information on track ride-ability

  • Do you mean this sunday - the 8th or next Sunday, the 15th.

I always get my This' and Nexts confused...

  • We will start the track session again once we get over this cold spell. Keep an eye on the Team Mule Bar Girl Facebook page for updates.

  • Woo hoo! Roll on warmer days!

  • Ladies Track sessions start again on March 4th! Woo hoo!

  • I would also like to let it be known that I have flipped my flip-flop hub to the fixed side and spent a few days pootling about with it and subsequently don't find the idea of riding fixed anywhere near as terrifying as I once did.

I am now officially looking forward to the Tarck Season.

  • Hurrah! Welcome to the fixed side! Good, innit?
