I think there's a regular Sunday afternoon women only session planned.
Rob is riding at Calshot today so we'll have to wait until he's back for confirmation.
Coaching at calshot, no riding for me :(
Yep, Womens sessions once a month starting when the light is good enough, will remain weekly unless attendance falls in which case they may be turned into TT sessions for male and female riders.

Cross-linking to this even though it's not track:

Some closed-circuit racing, though, and people interested in road racing might find the track, and vice versa.

I'll be there. I'm skipping out on road training for it...but it'll be lovely to ride the new beast around in circles.

Did this session happen yesterday? I had to be in brighton so couldn't make it.
-
• #13
Yeah it was on and a beautiful afternoon for it :)
it was a good session but we need to get more women down - there were only 7/8 of us -

i thought the weather was going to be rubbish all weekend, so i ended up working. typical! i want to make some of these sessions for sure, trying not to get shifts on sundays!

The thing is that if we don't consistently get enough people down to these sessions, they simply can't run. If you don't use it you lose it, as they say! As far as I know, Rob is going to give it until after easter, and then assess whether it's viable to keep running them.
If you are seriously keen to come down then do! do! come! It's fantastic to have the track to ourselves! Riding round in circles is amazing fun.

The thing is, I can't do both road and track on a sunday, it will kill me. So if the weather looks foul then I road train, if it looks good then I hill train in the morning and I can track in the afternoon. But I don't want to risk not getting out at all by not going out with the club when it looks wet, then having the track cancelled.

Ha! Nhatt I had a dream that you emailed me about this! You were really angry in my dream!
I don't mean to sound as negative as I do; just it would be really nice if these sessions could work out, otherwise we're one step backwards. But it requires a handful of people to be committed to coming most Sundays, and then a number of people just dropping in a few times. If people come regularly the the group will develop and progress together, and that will help everyone to gain as much as possible from it.
Interest is getting there - Team Mule Bar Girl just arrived & Rapha Condor are launching their ladies team tomorrow...but there's little sign of this down the track: there's a huge amount of room to get more women on the track and involved there. The more women go, the more we can get women's events on.

You Bitch! You made it not rain on Sunday, I know it!
I'll see you this Sunday to be sure, and I'll be more up for it as soon as I'm done with the Rubaix.
As you can imagine I'm a bit scared about being under prepared for it. -

Much as I love riding a fixed gear bike as fast as possible, I suck at riding as close to people as you need to on the track. I know you get better at that by doing it more but due to a few recent crashes which have shattered my confidence a bit and discovering I like touring far more than racing, I don't think I'm going to be doing any track this year.
I can promote the sessions though - is there any more info anywhere apart from this thread that I can link to? (beyond the calendar on the HH website)

^do some flying 200/kilo/pursuit stuff, whilst the bunch people are having a rest. That's what Rob does.

Should there be a new thread for this,or maybe change the title Rob, its not highly noticeable (is that a word?)
I will get some more people to come down for this.

Once again, looks like rain this Sunday, unless the forcast changes I'll be battling it out on the hills of south london.
Meh.
The Herne Hill Velodrome Google Calendar has 7th March 4pm to 6pm tagged as Women's Track Training.
I believe that weekends listings will be the template for the season with induction/beginners and Intermediate now separated on the Saturday
