Yeah, for all their focus on the GB riders, those British commentators fuck up the facts a lot.
puts them on ignore -
• #205
Actually her 8th World Championship, counting all disciplines.
-
• #206
Referring to Womens Sprint. They were wrong.
-
• #207
The commentary I heard mentioned it being her fifth sprint title, so they obviously get it right at least some of the time
-
• #208
They were calling Sireau the other Frenchy's name yesterday too. Bloody forruns.
-
• #209
The way Hugh Porter pronounces Sireau, I'm surprised he doesn't say 'How-ay' for Hoy. Or 'Pend-lee-ten' or 'Ker-nay' or 'Cruamooturn' or some shit like that. WTF is he on?

I expect all my Lietuvan friends will be having issues with his pronunciation of Krupeckaite too, and I doubt that any European commentator makes anything but laughable noises to Chinese ears when pronouncing Guo Shuang's name.
However, the true comedy was reserved for the 1990s, when any given hour of Eurosport Tour commentary would contain up to three different pronunciations of Virenque, all from people in the same commentary booth.

How difficult would it be for commentators to grab a few minutes with various coaches and get the pronunciations sorted? Or for the race organisers to knock up a few phonetic crib sheets? But then sports commentary's never been the realm of talent and professionalism, has it :/

The trouble with attempting authentic pronunciation is that you end up sounding like Pamela Stephenson impersonating Jan Leeming
-
• #213
If you play Dutch cycling punditry over the top of Fela Kuti, it sounds like 'sexy rap'.

Shaaaaaaaaane.

• #221
She was going diagonally across the line

8th, just behind Daniell.
Australia wins Madison Gold! Another gold for Australia. Fuck yeah!
Australia continued its best world championship in several years when the pairing of Cameron Meyer and Leigh Howard raced to an impressive win in the men’s Madison. Meyer was talking his third gold medal of the championships, following on from his victories in the points race and the team pursuit.
Howard was also involved in the latter success, although he rode the qualifiers before Meyer took over for the final. With one day left in the Ballerup championships, the Aussies have racked up an excellent eight medals, six of which are gold of which three are Meyer’s.
