6pt - Rolla crew are getting the 7 27 from Waterloo
I'm a rolla now too! Well, I will be on Tuesday when I stump up some cash. I'm considering the whole weather=bail option, but hmmm.
New tyre on the front, certain parts cleaned and tightened, now to set up the course for the Garmin with virtual partner set at an 18.6mph avg and no slowdown on hills. Yelp.^^I'm not at all fussed about a wet run, either; though it looks like we're on for a fair weather day.
Mudguards? :P If it's a damp day I apologise in advance for anyone immediately behind me. No mudguards, innit.

Hmmmm. Who needs a mirrorball when your disco slippers bring the disco?I've worn away the face of the screw in my heel pads [on my far more boring than pictured above slippers], and as such can't unscrew them to put new ones on. Anyone good at this sort of thing? I'm completely without tools here bar a flat head screwdriver so my options are limited.
Bout to go find some yoghurty flapjacks, JAMIE pretty much convinced me I don't eat enough and after Dunwich I don't think I can face another powerbar for a while... -
• #1584
Erm...shoulda probably replaced the heels before they were so worn down??
My shoes are the boss of yours I'm afraid, 6pt. Mine are a work of art. And when I pedal they leave a little trail of rainbows. fact.
-
• #1585
I can't trump rainbows. And yes, yes I should have replaced them earlier. I'm thinking I might try and superglue the screwdriver to the screw and see what happens. Probably a very bad idea.
-
• #1586
A brilliantly bad idea. I'd go so far as to say twattish.
Can you webcam it? Could do with a larf.
-
• #1587
6pt, yes very bad idea, you can try with a better tool and bit on the screw before, or you have to drill... a risky thing; I might can help you but better if you don't try anything else before.....
-
• #1588
I reckon the Surrey 5 hills TNRC ride is tougher in terms of climbing.
I wish you were right as well as I wish we could compare it with the SSTC routes....
-
• #1589
Yeah, I worry drilling is overkill. I'll try and find something to wear a groove into the head to get a bit of purchase. Enough of a derail, no need to worry. I won't try anything stupid :)
-
• #1590
Do it, 6pt, don't listen to marcom...
he he he
-
• #1591
^^I've got a drill bit for that sort of thing. Run a drill/ electric screwdriver in reverse and the bit cuts into the metal of screw, pulling it out shortly after. It worked a treat on some rounded-out pc screws.
'Small too, being a drill bit. Want me to bring it tomorrow?
Edit...
The drill bit what I got is dead easy to use. The office electric screwdriver is built like a child's toy, and these special screw-removing bits worked really well.
Sainsbury's are currently doing three Dorset Cereal bars for a quid. Dead posh, but quite good.

• #1592
6pt, as a said I might can help you but you must come to me(camden), for the tools.
andyp, but I gave up wishing a while ago.
-
• #1593
drill?
i don't haz. -
• #1594
Not doing any travelling today, and another day's wear won't make things any worse. Will give it a go tomorrow evening if people are around for me to grab things from?
-
• #1595
Have fun y'all, shame I can't make it but I'll hopefully be at the top of some col or other while you're at this.
Poor old Dom appears to have done his collarbone after crashing today on second day of his cycling holiday :(
Get well soon Dommy!and the organiser will be in attendance at HQ all day tomorrow so bags can be left there during the ride.
