  • Yeah, to be honest I'm hoping to stay away from the stock market unless I get something really good. Preferably looking for something a bit safer.

  • This thread!?
I think it is about time I say my goodbyes.

  • I recently asked my Father what the best investment was and he advised me to buy an ounce of coke and sell it off gram by gram - there'll be a small but not insignificant profit in there, but it can tend to put your liberty at risk. Then you just have to repeat it several hundred times and remember not to stick the profits up your snot-locker.

You don't happen to be john terry do you?

I must admit, I don't ever invest any money in anything, really. Pay off the mortgage, feed the kids, buy beer and whatever my current obsession is - bikes or boats or building stuff... If I've got any spare money it's a sign that I'm working too many hours.

    Huh?

Yeah, this is my first ever opportunity really, but being only 18 I haven't yet felt the burden of real responsibility.

keep the shares in fortune, discussion here

Very interesting. Perhaps that's what I'll do for now then - see what happens.

  • Is Tweed Run™ trading yet? Looks like a good punt.

  • if you get any tips
although it's all too easy to drink your profits

i heard stella by the case was a good investment £18.50 in my local office freaking bargain
    it's £20 usually

    £1.50 saving on £20
    thats not a bad turn

Liquid assets can evaporate especially if Max is around so not a good business call.

  • This thread brings up an interesting question or questions.

This is the first time that i have ever been part of a forum or internet community. When most of my friends started using IRC and MIRC in the early 90's i found it boring and a waste of my time i could spend getting better meeting girls. And that thought process has crept through to online gaming and such.

For me, this forum was a serious eye opener cause suddenly, someone who has absolutely no experience in any bicycles other than the crappy mountain bike i owned in the mid 80's, was part of a scene previously unknown to me. I now have gained an understanding about bikes like never before, and if there was anything i did not know, i could ask (at the cost of maybe being flamed alive).

Are there forums that deal in investing that any of you have experienced that has the same feel that LFGSS has? I mean, most of the forums ive found either give you IMO's or are serious quants. I want something that gives me a way to work out for myself what needs to be done.

You guys know of any? You use any?

  • You guys know of any? You use any?

    www.419.com

  • I would invest in this dude: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8571928.stm?ls

    Ace.

  • Is it fused?

  • I was thinking of raising some cash and messing about doing up property (not in London) but it does seem a bad time to be entering that market at the moment unless you can buy at knock down prices, any thoughts?

  • Auctions on derilict properties the best afaik. If you can, add value by extending and possibly splitting into 2 dwellings. It'll be more work, but your return wil be far greater.

  • I was kidding
Sorry - long day so i missed it... Long miserable day... And the thought of financing my future out of this shit hole is clouding my humourz bone!

How does one get into auctions and such?

  • How does one get into auctions and such?

Turn up to one... be prepared to put down a large deposit though (around £20000) within 7 days of winning and you usually have to complete within 28 days or loose said deposit!

  • You just walk in, but you need to know what you are buying the cost of repairs and your potential return. I can't afford to do it in London so was thinking further afield, Bedfordshire and the likes as I don't want to mortgage myself to the hilt as I have learnt to enjoy doing nothing so could quite happily become my own boss. Ripping out, electrics some plumbing I could do myself, just need to get good workers in to do the rest.

    @Soul 20k isn't much of a deposit......

  • @Soul 20k isn't much of a deposit......

It is for some people if they don't already have finance in place. It's not like many people have that in savings / want to risk it if they can't agree finance.

  • dats outta my leaguez... Damn...

  • dats outta my leaguez... Damn...

and you need to fund the project as well as pay for the investment, @20k deposit then pay the £200k for the property as well
