Nice Gabes.

sweet Gabes, sweet…

Just remember to not get complacent Gabes.
There is still a second left in that game, enough time for some Malice rage to secure a win.

Actually if that's a count down timer as "Time Remaining" suggests then 5 goals were scored in 1 second.
Kids these days, even with Ritalin they just can't pay attention to detail.

Gabes is a hero.

I knew emmet would make a comment about the game, so predictable.

Well how come the goals have been scored in minutes.
Either this app is shit or can warp time and prophesise results.
-
• #12
awesome can you add 'penis' count?
-
• #13
and a sorry count if yorgo is playing.

Can you link it with Bill's idea of getting player's to wear numbers to identify them? Maybe the numbers could be linked to electrodes - then you can allocate send electric shocks from the phone for rule breakers. That's every problem solved in one app.
You could generate the text at the end of the game and use the space to add other buttons for a shot on target (which would add 1 to the other teams saves) and shots off target? Anything that means you can get more stats. I like stats. Could you make it work on Android?

Great work Gabes.
Could do with a pause timer button for timeouts and an undo button for if you accidentally hit the wrong button or something?

Clever lad...

just a suggestion but... if you're not 100% set on iphone only then perhaps you should look at something like this: http://phonegap.com/
basically you develop the app using javascript and html and it'll run on iphone, android, palm, symbian etc
since its not needing any fancy 3d graphics or that kind of thing then it might be fine? also i'm sure with your webtastic skills you could do it in your sleep!

Does it need some way to accommodate own-goals?
Oh also it totally needs to play sound effects. Some kind of "awooga" sound when someone scores? Cheesy organ music while the game is paused?
-
• #19
Hockey music... Deffo... That takes it into *Killer App *territory...
-
• #20
and a heckle button…
-
• #21
Yeah, dave, the screenshots are just from a rough mock up in Interface Builder, it will have start/stop timer buttons.
I could add shots on goal/saves, but the iPhone has limited screen space, so it's hard to get a lot in without the interface becoming cumbersome. (esp for people with fat fingers)

Hockey music, and wicked Horn sound after goals and at end of play. YES.
Timer warning sounds too, YES.
-
• #23
awesome idea Gabes.

Great work Gabes.
Could do with a pause timer button for timeouts and an undo button for if you accidentally hit the wrong button or something?
The usual iPhone shake to undo?

that's what i'm thinking, but we'll see, referees can be quite excitable, last week, I undid all my typing in the malice elks game, in the notes app. Was a pain in the ass to write it all again.
I have some free time at work, not much, but enough to start getting my head around XCode, Cocoa, Objective-C and the iPhone SDK (geek I know).
I've been planning an iPhone app for a while for use by referees, not just for the league, but any games.
I'm still planning the interface and user flow for it, but the basics are.
Team info:
Team Name, player names.
Game settings:
Team 1 and Team 2.
Number of games, 1 or multi game fixture (2, 3, 4, 5 etc)
Golden Goals on/off
Time Limit (0 for untimed)
Goal Limit (5 by default, 0 for unlimited (must be a timed game))
It will remember the last settings used.
In Game View:
Time remaining
Scores for Teams
Buttons to assign goal to a player, which will record the time they scored also (another button needs adding to assign Own Goals).
After the game has completed, it's possible to copy the text at the bottom to the clipboard and auto launch another app such as twitter or facebook to post to there.
If people have any ideas about what could be added, fire away.
There are longer term plans with this, such as linking in with player profiles stored on leagueofbikepolo.com. But that's a fair way off yet.
It could also be used connected to a server running the Greifmasters software (or similar). So a ref at a big tourney can update the scores, start stop the timer etc right from his phone.
