There's three of 'em (well, four if you count the a7 ii).
A7s = 12mp, silent shutter, stoopid high iso, full sensor read-out for video, 4k, blah blah...
A7 = 24mp, good all-rounder.
A7ii = same sensor as A7 but with better AF, ergonomics (shutter button is where it should be) and most importantly, in-body image stabilisation for any lens you mount on it, no matter who its made by. Just select the focal length and it'll adjust itself accordingly.
A7r = 36mp monster. There are some caveats - it has an incredibly loud shutter that has also been blamed for shutter shake.
Also, if you're picking between one of these and a D800, Sony use compression on their RAW files. They're sampled down from 14 to 11 bit and you may see artefacts in high-contrast areas. Its really not a big deal because they still destroy anything from Canon but a D800 will give you uncompressed, 200mb 14 bit files, if you so wish. And better battery life.

Good info, really hate camera review sites. Though I'm not sure I'm good enough to worry about high contrast artefacts :)
Sony does look shit hot but I have Nikon flash gear and little bits that would just be annoying to sell/replace. Love how small the Sony is though, the lenses look pretty spenny though. £550 for a 50mm
thanks for the help

Nice one of them all running up together. The last one looks like he's checking his phone. Casual

A couple from the weekend, trying to get a family photo for my mum. 6 adults (including me), 3 dogs and 2 babies = lots of shots with eyes closed, tongues out and hats over eyes!
These were my best two.

Nice. I like the two night-time ones.
I do think the X-Pro 1 sensor is somehow crisper than the second-gen sensor that's in my X100s. I've been using the X100s a lot because I'm trying to do the one camera, one lens, one year thing, but it's just not got that certain something.

I want this 24mm STM.
Did anybody on here buy it yet?
Is it as good (sharp, quick focussing / working smoothly) as the 40mm STM ??Seriously debating whether to go for a Nikon DSLR again next year, though I'd pray they finally start making good pancakes as well...

I almost bought one last night. It has pretty much the same field of view (38mm equiv) as the 40 so is essentially the equivalent, hence the size. Its meant to be slightly sharper than the 40 too, if that's even possible.

Sorry, but you lost me there.
24mm on crop sensor sees what a 28mm would see on full frame,
40mm on crop would see what a 64mm would see on full frame, right?Since I have a crop sensor at the moment I try to make something with this 64mm focal lenght the 40 gives me.
It's weird. In a nutshell: you're "too close" a lot of times, and in the city often have not enough space to move away from the subject.
On the other hand it's not very cool for portraits. Head to feet is ok, but torso or especially just head is not good, you're way too close for a model to feel comfortable and noses begin to look big already.
So yea, I love it, but it's weird. After walking around with it for weeks I realized it's not a good always-on-walk-around-lens.
So the 24mm will hopefully fill this gap. Maybe it's a tad too wide, haha.
A7 2 is due,if you can hang on (mk1s will drop in price, if you dont fancy the 2)
