It's just so cluttered. For a camera that mimics a bygone era of simplicity, you need a damn degree to read that thing! Wasn't a fan of the AF either. A bit confused.
That low light and white balance capability though. Oof..shine baby shine!
Wasn't there fresher firmware for it? -
• #4903
Yep, they just released a massive update about a month ago which helped the af and MF focus peaking. To be honest the focusing is pretty snappy. The menus are not what I'd call intuitive though but now its all set up, I'll probably leave the menus alone as much as possible. Really happy though.

Yeah, firmware made the AF a lot better. Personally I didn't have a problem with it before anyway.

Interesting. What kind of speed improvements in terms of constantly moving multiple focus points?

photographers: how annoyed would you be if a Le Monde website used (without asking) one of your Flickr CC NC photographs to illustrate a Rod Liddle anti-cycling article?

Could do with a lighter tripod than my current one. I'll have that if that's cool with you. Just tell me time and place.

If its CC thats one thing, but if its NC thats another, id check with someone who knows their way round copyright law

Pretty pissed, (what does CC NC mean though) my housemate infact had a similar situation, i remember him saying he emailed the company with an invoice for the use of the image and they actually paid up!
at the end of the day that image is your copyright, have they credited you? even if they have they should have asked permission beforehand.

I think it was the association with the Rod Liddle anti-cyclist rant that annoyed me the most.
It was under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial licence, which is pretty generous in terms of reuse, but explicit about no commercial use. That said, I get that there's still a bit of confusion, and there has been some debate in the past about whether a site that gains revenue from advertising is commercial or not. http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/2.0/deed.en_GB
They've taken it down now, but I will email them an invoice!

Has anyone used one of these "light field cameras" yet?

Like this one - https://www.lytro.com/For the 'indecisive moment'?
"Why bother deciding where to focus when you can just take a shitload of pictures, dump them on your laptop and then never really decide how they were meant to look?"
Sorry, Lytro has gotten up my nose since day one. -

..but... ...but...

also 1.2mp images? no ta

Basically, the whole world is a fucking 'light field'. Many a student has wandered into it with a basic SLR and a 50mm lens wide open, gawping at how they have this new magic 'possibility' to selectively focus on things and leave everything else all nice and creamy and blurry like.
Then, six months have passed and their Photography tutor is fucking sick to death of them showing up at crits with pictures only shot at f1.8. -

I takez your 1.2mp and raise you 1px!
On a more serious note, the lytro is a funny one, but for the consumer, it could work sure. It has a high possibility of producing armies of lazy camera users, and for the average user, isn't exactly what's required? Since the majority are now running around with big ass DSLR's firing away on Auto anyway.

I like that ^^
Would've been perfect if you saw the front of the car, although there's def 'something' about this composition that I like too. Makes you look twice, as it's actually not about the car. -

really like this, colours and composition are really nice! do however feel like the image is leaning to the left a little?

They know what you're capable of, Ben, and they want to get every penny of their money's worth.
The viewfinder is great! I like how the EVF goes black + white when shooting in that mode and all the OVF overlay trickery is amazing.
Minimum shutter speed in auto iso seems to not do what its supposed to though :)
