  • Hasselblad Stellar. What we saying about this digi compact, guys and girls?

    Looks like ass.
I suspect image quality will be alright though.

  • Another tarted up Sony with a doubled price tag. Heard good things about the rx100 though, so it's probably allright. No idea why they're ruining their own brand like this though

  • RX100 is an excellent camera and extremely travel-friendly with decent battery and no need for a rechargeable pack.

No surprised they put on a different name on a Sony, Leica still do that with their compact as well which were rebranded Panasonic Lumix.

  • Will, I love that photo, it look great.

  • my old pentax istDL is finally giving up the ghost - sensor doing weird things (pixellating, overexposing areas etc.)

What's a decent used option to replace it?

I'd been hankering after something a bit older but full-frame (maybe a canon so I can use my PK prime lenses with an adaptor)

    5d?
    1d?

anything else i've missed which could run PK lenses without too much bother?

in a perfect world I could tether through lightroom as well?

  • If you're happy with your old Pentax (my dad used to have that), you can always get the modern one that's better than the original, especially when it actually can handle higher ISO which is istDL suck at.

You can get a second hand K-5 which is a big improvement or the new K-7.

  • What editing software should I buy?
    don't need full on CS.
Elements, Lightroom, nikons jazz, paintshop pro, others??
I don't know the advantages of 1 over the others.

Only need basic stuff, but would like the option of more complicated stuff in the long run.
    Thanks

  • Lightroom

  • Lightroom IMHO, I find it more than enough, especially when you buy plug-in once you get the hang of it.

Lightroom you can edit photos as well as it being a library, their back-up feature is decent.

  • Grand

  • Students can get you 40% off if you know any

  • Lightroom is great :)

If anyone has been tempted by the Nik Software collection and the Google price drop wasn't enough to make you buy, there's a new additional tool set (Analogue Efex Pro) which is has been added and looks OK. Also there's a 15% off code kicking about: ABIGGS

Brings the cost down to $126.65 (about £80).

  • Is lightroom resource heavy?
I don't have a graphics card (i have an AMD A6 chip with integrated Radeon gfx, apparently)
and 4gb RAM (that should be enough)

  • It should be OK. More ram the better but 4GB should be sufficient.

  • Lightroom isn't exactly heavy, just you'll notice it take a moment to render your change, especially on RAW files.

  • +1 on Lightroom. Recently changed to using it from Aperture. I definitely prefer it.

  • Lightroom it is!
Will try and score an extra 4gb ram at some point to help it along, I plan to do some light video editing in the future, so it cab only be a good thing

  • There are times I am not exactly proud with my heritage...

  • I like the Df.
    But for £2800, I'm out.

  • Yeah that DF; being an early adapter of retro-digital (X100) I think I am over it.

Although its a great camera it doesn't set itself apart from the rest of the full frame cameras on the market apart from aesthetic.
