Digital photography

Had an interesting opportunity come up the other day when a house with a very derelict swimming pool was due to be demolished, so I got in there quick with the nearest model and had a quick shoot! I think it's all gone now, which is a shame...

Not particularly. The line of her arm just seemed to complement the way the pool liner was hanging.

Went to Sweden last weekend, didn't take nearly as many photos as I'd anticipated.

Some great shots there. I was in a building yesterday that's been gutted to the brickwork and joists. Just a sink and toilet. Would be a good location but I'm lacking the model and lighting. Why does no one make builders calendars like the mechanics ones?

Inspiring stuff anyway.

Fulham, took a friends son to his first home game. Not my team. The seats must be the oldest in the premier league, Johnny Haynes stand is listed so the club are stuck with it.

With intense use (I’ve made about 4,000 pictures in the last four days) I’ve discovered that the iPhone 5S is a very capable camera. The color and exposures are amazingly good, the HDR exposure feature does a stunningly good job in touch situations, the panorama feature is nothing short of amazing—seeing a panorama sweeping across the screen in real time is just intoxicating. Best of all it shoots square pictures natively, a real plus for me since I wanted to shoot for Instagram posting.

Once I figured out what the camera could do well I began to forget all the things it couldn’t do at all.

I do a lots of photographs with my iPhone as well as it was a decent camera, it's not up there with those digital compact, but can work surprisingly well if you work with it.

Couple of my iPhone shot, last one was Instagram filter, the rest were edited by using an image editing application on the phone;

Nikon have released a D610. Basically a D600 with a new shutter mechanism that shouldn't fling oil at the sensor like a caged primate.
Its a shame they couldn't just say sorry and find a way of permanently fixing it other than designing a new model... It just hurts D600 users trying to sell their used gear down the line. Hopefully they still offer the free sensor cleaning because they are damn fine cameras.

When I saw that news I felt like I was being cheated to. Couldn't agree more than they could have just fixed the bloody problem instead of releasing a new model and sell the D600 dirt cheap. Should have seen that coming as the cash back offer lasted for about 6 months... However, the price for the D610 seems a little high for what it is, £1799 seems a bit high... Or was the D600 the same? Needless to say, I am a little pissed off.

It would be funny, I mean very funny if the D610 has the exact same oil problem.

Some on the Internet are saying might the initial batch of D610 be returned units of D600? A good point, actually.

The d600 is still one of the best cameras around, it hasn't become rubbish just because a new(?) one is out. Still, nikon could have handled it better...
