I'm sure it's been asked numerous times (so apologies) but what do you picturetaking experts recommend for someone 100% fresh to the world of photography that would like to learn some of the science behind it. Books? Free online tutorials? The camera is a Nex5 btw.

When you say science, do you mean the actual physics of lenses etc? or just practical stuff like focal length/ depth of field etc?
Old, and film based, but I still think *the Ansel Adams Guide *series is great.

The 35mm photographers handbook, also film based when I had a copy, would be a good read / point of reference.

Also, go do a night class if time allows. Bet post processing on computers has replaced time in darkroom these days.

Cool. North York Moors?
Macclesfield Forest, just on the edge of the Peaks.
And, yes, they are sheep. And lambs.
