Your sensor needs a good clean - though I'd guess they were taken at a small aperture which will make sensor dust more apparent.

Yep, the cleaning kit is already in the post....something I haven't tried before. I should also save the test shot to help with tidying up those images.
You're right, used a small aperture (and ND filter) to help with the blurring effect.

quick q for all my canon digital log-shooting friends out there
can you set the DSLR to shoot stills in log picture profile? c-log is what it's called I think.
I know it's possible in video, but can't find any info on stills online.many thanks!
